This drug and lipitor was…
This drug and lipitor was prescribed over ten years (to now) for high blood pressure and angina relief .After 5 years I had a double bypass surgery. At no time was I warned of any potential side-effects of these drugs. Over the past three years I have suffered increasingly with fluid retention in the feet/legs, exhaustive tiredness incidents and a fall-off in elite sports performance. Two years ago I experienced peripheral neuropathy of both feet - numbness, severe burning sensation, severe stabbing pains and leg muscle spasms in bed. This situation has progressed to me living 24/7 with a pain level of 7.5/10, in the feet , no pain management and continuous leg muscle locking as I walk, Fluid retention has worsened and balance is a problem as I am not sure exactly where my feet are. I have had a number of minor falls and this week, a serious one which left me lying in a garden bed in the rain at night, unable to get up for half an hour. The makers of both drugs warn about feet numbness, muscle damage and severe fluid retention in their pamphlets. I have replaced the Lipitor with a non-statin medication and today told my GP I would no longer use metahexal. He quoted statistics in favour of the drug which shows how successful the drug cartel's PR is.He is currently looking for a replacement that has none of the warned side-effects and I have contacted a neurologist for more expert advice on coping with the problems.Despite the fact that I have known my GP for 20+ years I have been seriously let down by the lack of consultation on potential side-effects of the drugs and the absence of choice of alternatives.
