Metolazone

8-) I took metolazone on mon-wed fri., for 1 month. dr. told me to stop saying IT WILL TARE YOUR KIDNEYS UP! I retain fkuids & now furosemide dont work very well. So, I have pills left & I take 1 a week & boy does the water start flowing. 2-3 litres overnight..I think the medicine is great..

after taking metolazone,i experienced light head,dizzy,nodding out,major muscle cramps in legs and arms

My mother is 84 with CHF and severe edema.  Metolazone was added to her list of meds including Furosemide.  She was not warned of the potential serious side effects.  She had nausea & vomitting almost immediately.  Within a few days she was weak and bedridden.  Her urination decreased and she also had chills.  She was taken to the clinic and saw another doctor who did not do any blood tests and gave her an rx for the nausea.  She had already stopped taking the medication.  2 days later she was taken to the ER and her Na & K were very low, and lipase was high.  She spent the night in the hospital where she received KCL, but nothing was mentioned about the high lipase.  She was taken back to the doctor the following day, still feeling quite ill, and we ased about the high lipase and was told there was no relationship.  That is when I started doing internet searches and found out the pancreatitis is indeed a possible side effect.  2 weeks later Mom is finally up and out of bed although her electrolytes and lipase are still abnormal.
