Miralax

After taking my first dose of Miralax, I experienced severe dizxiness. It lasted for approximately 5 hours. I reported it to my doctor's office, by way of a voice mail, as no human answers the phone at doctors offices anymorel You are at their mercy as to when they call you back. At the end of the day, I received my call from the receptionist at my doctor's office, who told me that my doctor and his nurse were out of town that day, but she said it was true that dizziness can be a side effect of Miralax. I asked her to have my nephrologist call me when he returned, as I have Stage 4 Kidney Disease, and do not want to hurt my kidney by taking a laxative that would harm my kidney. The next day, his nurse called me and reported that dizziness is NOT a side effect of Miralax, and that was the only thing he recommended. I told her that I know my body, and my dizziness was a direct result of taking this laxative. She then referred me to my primary care doctor. I told her that my primary care physician would only refer me back to him, as he is the doctor to deal with my kidney issues. Are there ANY REALLY GOOD DOCTORS OUT THERE ANYMORE????? I'm still waiting for my nephrologist's call.

I started taking Miralax and became dehydrated, had water retention, sweats, tremors, heart palpatations, high blood pressure, could not sleep and had no energy. This stuff is terrible as far as I am concerned. I took the last dose yesterday am and am still feeling the effects of it. I will not take it again. Very scary for me.

I have been on Miralax, one capful a day for 3 months now. I am experiencing severe dizzyness/vertigo, not sure it if is related to Miralax. Has anyone else had these same symptoms?

If your having trouble having a bm everyday which is what everyone should have if they eat 2 to three meals a day.......you need fruit & vegetables.....spinach is a great thing to eat for constipation.....also romaine......All natural; don't ad much dressing.......try a natural dressing & add red pepper or radishes.....If you need meat; ad some lean turkey breast.......stay away from bacon.....it sucks unless you buy the organic stuff........add lean chic. breast as well.......eat an apple a day......is it so hard to eat some Vegetables!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never took the stuff.......Doesn't anybody READ the LABEL.....The stuff has Propane in IT..!!!!! don't take it.........READ the LABEL.......several years ago I went to a holistic dr. to talk about diet & blood type...........she said products with propane r going to start popping up....don't take them........

I started Miralax and unsure when is the best time to take it. So I started it at night time. The first night not to bad, but a lot of gassiness. Second night the same, but palpations, weakness and insomnia. Has anyone experienced these side effects. It is not agreeing with me at all.

Has anyone experienced  hair loss as a side effect of long term use of Miralax???  I have been taking Miralax for about 3 and half years, one dose every day.  I am losing TONS of hair and wonder if it could be related to the long term use of Miralax..............  Please help!!!!!

miralax is giving me cramps all the time. it is worse after I eat.

i had a terrible experience with Miralax........first day i was ok but from second day i started severe diarrhea,bloating associated with cramping abdominal pain......and today is the 4th day my diarrhea is controlled but i am feeling very weak and started haveing sore throat and gum hyperplasia.........can someone tell me if gum hyperplasia is side effect of Miralax???

Has anyone had a a bm where it felt like someone was pouring acid on your bottom after taking miralax for a few weeks?

I took Miralax for 2 weeks without any side effects. It softened my stool beautifully and I was regular. Then I switched to LaxaClear (Costco's generic version) and have been on that for 5 weeks. But this past week I have felt very constipated and had very few BMs and suffered with severe bloating, burping and even acid reflux at night (none of which are common for me). So, I have been fasting on clear liquids for 2 days and now am finally feeling better (though hungry). I may just switch to prune juice!

I experienced hair loss.

My experience with Miralax was a nightmare. I had a severe allergic reaction which involved hives, splitting headaches, abdominal pain, rectal burning, serious back pain and excema, which covered my head, neck and face. As soon as I stopped taking it, most of the symptoms went away. However, the back pain decreased by 80% almost overnight, but never went away completely. I've been off of it for just over a year. My doctor thinks that it triggered some sort of autoimmune response. According to what I've read, Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc., the company that makes Miralax, has gone out of its way to prevent the information about adverse reactions from getting out. If they can delay having their product removed from the market, they can make billions, and that's all they care about. According to the National Institutes of Health, Miralax causes nausea, stomach pain, bloating, vomiting, rectal irritation, rash, hives and skin irritation, but if you look at a bottle of Miralax, it says "Miralax does not cause cramps, bloating or gas", which is a lie. The Department of Health and Human Services issued a letter to Braintree Laboratories, which disseminates promotional material for Miralax, asking that they change the packaging to accurately reflect not only the efficacy of the product, which has consistently been exagerrated, but all of the adverse reactions, but as far as i know, they haven't complied. I've seriously considered suing them, and probably will.

After taking Miralax with not enough water, my stools have been for over a week now sticky, soft and need for frequent(4-6) bowel movements a day.

My usual movements were every 4-6 days. Miralax mixed with gatorade helped me go down to ever 1-3 days. Never experienced any of these side effects. Highly recommendable. 

Do not give this to your children.  It says right on the bottle do not give to children.  My son went to summer camp and the nurse accidently gave him to much and he had had bloody diarrieah for a week now.  I am never using this stuff again.  It is made out of fucking plastic.

every time I try to take it..  reccomended adult dose, my legs and feet swell and feel really tingly - like I'm walking on mush.. or baloons or rubber or something.. it's totally wierd - yet, I do usually get a BM within hours!!

Can Miralax cause inflamed joints?

My 5 year old has a problem with rectal prolapse due to constipation. Accordingly, he has been prescribed Miralax--1 capful per day to soften his stools. Now his underpants get lined with poop whenever he passes gas. We assume we should ease up on the Miralax but aren't 100% sure. Any advice/comments would be most welcome.
