Movicol

I've been taking Movicol for over 3 weeks and I will have to use it for another 7 weeks and there has been 1 time where I pooped like 3-4 a day O.o and always after taking Movicol immidietly get stomach ache for about 3 minutes ... but I would just wait and see what happens :)

I took movicol for 4 days beacause i had not been to the loo , then that was it ,loose stools .........
it's been a week now and still loose . My bowls feel like there have lost control as I'm pooing bits every time I wee or after food I'll want to go gain . The doctor said some people have that reaction to them and if I'm not back to normal in a few weeks come back to see him . Has any one took this movicol and had this happen to them as I'm getting worried ...........

I'm a middle age lady and have suffered from constipation most of my adult years...I have had every test you could think of and more,sad for me but my bowels just don't work..I have been on every medication out there,and all the fibre stuff as well,still don't move me..Movicol is the only med that works for me...but i can take anything from 6 to 8 in a day,and the next day the same until they work.If i miss a day oh boy am i in big trouble,so I then have to use the long nose fleet enemas to help me out, then i have to drink movicol till it gets me going again.I have no side affects with movicol at all and have been taking it for a long time..I also have to take a picoprep during these times..I'm over it all,I did speak to the dr about having my bowel removed because of the problems i have and he was happy for me to do that..But I thought once it's gone there is no way of getting it back so i just have to put up with the way things are.I drink loads of water to keep me hydrated as well..cheers

I thought it was just me, but then when I read some reviews on MOVICOL I realized my pain wasn't just in my head. I never understood why I kept feeling dizzy, why I kept getting extremely bloated or why I kept feeling this gurgling feeling in my abdominal area.

I'm a 16 year old girl, and have been having terrible problems with constipation, for the last couple of months. I've eaten tons of prunes, taken a bunch of movicol and stayed away from EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that could give me constipation, believe me. But now it's come to the point where I have been feeling so much pain, because of the MOVICOL, that I've wanted to be taken to the hospital and just get a colon cleanse or something. My plan is to do that in the next few days.

MOVICOL has so many other side effects than are mentioned in the manual, so I would NOT use it. Try other alternatives, believe me when I say, I'm giving you golden advice here.

trtying to find out if anyone has really severe side effects from taking movical half??

mygranson has been on movicol for 2 yrs and lactlose he keeps leaking like water stools but still cant go for a proper poo

i have been taking 8 sachets a day in a litre of water over 6 hours for 3 days,,have to say apart from some thirst,,and not feeling hungry,,i am suprised it didn,t work like i thought it would,,i am also taking fybogel now the three days is up...i will wait to see if the impaction improves,,and may repeat the process,, if my gp advises..although a lot to drink,,and doesnt taste to nice,,was not as bad as i thought the experience would be,, have lost 11lbs in weight over 4 days,,and am sure this is due to fluid loss,,and being able to empty my bowels,,as long as you keep well hydrated,,as much fluid as possible was not a severe as expected..

I was prescribed 4 sachets a day for a fecal impaction and after the first day I got really thirsty and extremely cold. After increasing the number of sachets from 3 to 4 my heart started racing and I felt dizzy all the time. It worked after 3 day's and my physician told me to continue treatment I continued with 2 sachets a day. The symptomes stayed for a week and then dissapeared. Now I am feeling breathless for periods and my stomach feels really full. Hope these symptomes will pass as well. I am now going to decrease my intake to one sachet.

The magical cure for constipation : raisins/sultanas plus dried apricot or dried figs or prunes as a snack eaten one or two hours before the main meal,,that snack can be taken any time as well ,,(beware if u are diabetic),,then forget about movicol & senna..i tried that lovely snack myself because i had chronic constipation ,,the result was great .

I heard from a friend that WHEAT is the main reason for constipation,,she told me when she excluded wheat from her diet she wasnt constipated anymore ( she relied on rice & wheat alternatives ),,when she returned to consuming wheat ( bread etc...)she tried to do the baking at home (without additives or preservatives ),,she told me it was good for her as well..

prescribed movicol for constipation took it for 18 mths began to feel ill tired and sore around stomache area went on to senakot no improvement  now have gastric problems ie bad taste in mouth cannot face certain foods lots of wind and indigestion nausea some sickness when cannot open bowels am now taking  lactulose which is now giving  me diahrea have had a CT scan and also scan using the gel on stomache they show cyst on one ovary and fibroids that have not shrunken although gone thro menopause gynaecologist not convinced

It works like a dream for me,but my stools are very black. I do eat loads of olives, grapes and drink red wine but still. I also pass urine frequently but have been doing that for yeasr. I'm a big water drinker, about 3 liters a day.
I'm in the menopause and have hot flushes etc. 
So, have no idea what's 'normal' anymore.

I have being taking movicol for 8 days (1 a day) My abdominal has bloated and i have put on 3lbs. i did alot of walking in London at the weekend and the weather was warm but my ankles and hands and fingers were swelled. Is this typical side effect.

ive been giving movicol after taking it 4 a week, i started to get stomach bloating,my ankles started to feel puffed up and left indentations where my socks were ,ive never had this before plus nauseous feeling every day since taking movicol , and finger swelling ,does this seem like side affects of movicol ?

I haver been taking Movicil for some months and suffer weight loss, cramps in arms and legs, frequent passing of urine causing me to have to get up more and more in the night and a feeling of lethargy while feeling unwell. I have a rash under both arms I find the powders useful but there is this cost if I take them, I have problems with constipation as a result of abdominal surgery. I would recommend use only for a few days and then stop the powders. I have been testing these powders for some time to see if they are causing my side effects and I think they are.
