Niaspan

Well, the first night I turned beat red, itchy, etc.  Second night the same thing happened but only after I had taken the aspirin...I WAS ALLERGIC TO ASPIRIN!  So the third night I took a 200 mg Ibuprofen waited thirty minutes ate 1/2 cup of all natural applesauce and felt fine.  I take 1 tsp Benedryl when I feel a little itchy.  I have had no problems at all with NIASPAN ER.  I am anxious to find out what my HDL and triglycerides are.

Started taking niaspan in July of this year after a few days I was awakened from intense heat in my feet. Each night it became worse.  I stopped taking the medication at the endo of July. I started again on 10/11/10 On the third night (10/13/10) I woke up to find my whole body itching and on fire including the sole of my feet. I felt I was being tortured from inside. MY skin had this red flushed look even though I am light brown in complexion. I went in the shower to cool myself  only to realise I was fainting. Called to my husband got out of the shower but collapsed on the floor outside.  My husband got me into bed and revived enough to be able to talk to someone from poison control (At 3 AM ).  The person was very calm helpful and told me  to not take niaspan again and to inform my doctor of my reaction.  The reaction  lasted for several hours. I  began praying aloud and asking God to spare my life as I did not think I would survive. Thank God he heard my prayer.  My Cholesterol level was 189 when I began taking niaspan, with excercise and diet I am sure I can address the issue. It makes me wonder if I should just quit going to doctors.  I did not think I needed the "little help" the doctor suggested to get the cholesterol down.

My face and body felt on fire, tingling..this slowly went away. Now I have facial tingling on my right side and my eye is drooping. My BP is great and I have no other symptoms of a stroke..

I've been taking niaspan 500 for a month. 2 weeks ago I started itching on the inside of my arms ,my feet and ankles and the backs of my knees. Will this eventually go away?
