Nuvaring

I used the nuvaring for 5 months. I am a 20 year old female and this was my first ever method of birth control. I decided to go off nuvaring because I was getting headaches, but it was too late. 2 blood clots formed in my brain and I had a stroke. I was diagnosed with superior sagittal sinus thrombosis. I fall in that small % of women who cannot take hormonal birth control because of the way it makes the blood clot. There should be greater awareness about these side effects because most times they only stress these side effects to women above age 35 who smoke

I used Nuvaring six years ago after the birth of my son. I had never had female issues prior to this product. After this product, I have never been the same. I have had on-going medical issues and had surgery for endometriosis. Now, they are saying that I need a hysterectomy. I also developed POCS. I can not say this product caused it, but I definetly did not have these issues prior to using it. It was a negative situation. That I could not recover from.

Iv been on the nuva ring for a few months and the doctors told me i had PID..Im 18 years old and scared so bad..I want to have kids sooner or later..So Im quiting the nuva ring aqnd going on tghe pill again..

I am having the exact SAME problem did it go away? what happened? I am so scared!

I used the Nuva Ring for 3 months on the beginning of the 3rd month i started having severe pelvic pain, then added flank pain in my lower back and where my kidneys are, i was misdiagnosed with a urinary track infection, then pelvic inflammatory disease, on antibiotics for 3 weeks, my white blood cell count was normal and there was no sign of bacteria, i must've taken at least 6 or 7 preg tests as i was in the ER twice and primary & gyno 6 times. my kidneys are fine, and there's no sign of cysts or endometriosis, so my doc and i decided maybe its the Nuvaring SO i've had it out for 1 week we'll see if the pain goes away ughhh!

i have ovarian cyst and never in my 21 yrs of life have i taken birth control then they suggested seasoniqe i quit in less then a week it made me emotional.  then 4 months later i was in the hospital for exterme abnormal heavy period.  They gave me a nuva ring and 2 days later the horrible bleeding stopped i was so happy and didnt have any problems till the changing of the ring i took it out the 3rd week kept it out for a week had a normal period then light bleeding that lasted the whole week after my period now is week 2 and the bleeding is like a normal period and the ring is still in and i m bleeding.  i 'm extremy tierd and thirsty.  i drink only water and quit smoking i dont know what the deal is i d like to have sex with my husband but cant for the fear the bleeding will never stop as soon as the 3rd week roles around i m never putting another ring in again

If you have a cough, look for it! It used to be one of my favourite natural cough remedies.

if your cough persists, seek professional help such as traditional Chinese medicine physicians - I have had very good experiences with them.

I am on my 3rd month of Nuva ring. The first month I had  daily spotting. the ssecond month NO spotting and the third month irregular spotting.
The worst side affect is almost constant non stop urinary tract infections. I have been on antibiotics  constantly and wont flush with cranberry juice very often. I shower after sex and rinse the nuva ring daily but  the infections  persist. I also had weight gain, mood swings and the doctor  says the anti biotics will decrease the effectiveness of the nuva ring. it is a shame as i was hoping for an easy contraceptive. I would not recoomend nuva ring for women who after multiple childbirth has prolapse issues, it pops out when toiletting or often during sex.

Just finished my period but did not start it within seven days of taking the nuvaring out so waited an additional several days. Went to start new nuvaring but took pregnancy test to make sure and it is positive. I have discontinued use but I am wondering if there are any side effects for people who are unaware they are pregnant with the nuvaring in prior?

I had used the Nuvaring for about three months before I started having horrible headaches, blurred vision, nausea and bad mood swings. I would not reccommend this ring at alll. Though it may be different for someone else I don't think its worth taking the chance. My Gyn asked me to visit my regular doctor so he can rule out any blot clots. I haven't seen my doctor yet and I continue to have severe headaches and blurred vision.

I used Nuvaring for a period of about 3 months a year ago and stopped using it because the whole time, I was not having any sex. My side effects were minor and not a big bother at all:
-sensitive, swollen breasts
-very dark period (blood) toward the end of the period (the health care provider said it might be due to some of the blood being obstructed from exiting the vagina by the ring (hence staying in there for longer and getting darker- not a pretty picture, I know)

I am considering going on some birth control other than the condom, since I am planning on having a lot more sex. But I recently read of an account where perfectly healthy, non smoking people, got severe, sometimes fatal side effects. Here are a few links for further reading:

I want to be able to have unprotected sex with a loving partner, but the risks of nausea, weight gain, mood swings, depression, blood clots and death are not ones I am prepared to accept. If anyone has had great experiences with some form of birth control out there, please do share.
