Nyquil

I am 18 yr old female that had the flu...was on second day of flu so only still had sore throat, took two cap fulls of the liquid nyquil..which isint even a full dosage, and tried to sleep, within 15 mins, I was having SO much trouble breathing. I honestly felt like I was forcing myself to breathe, my heart was beating outrgeuous and I could not sleep. I tried to get up but was way way to dizzy.I hallucinated small things..nothing huge.. I finnally feel asleep and woke back up 6 hours later, still so dizzy, tightned chest, heart paplations, I was freaked out.I had also swollen upper lip because in my sleep I had bitten and chewed it until it sliced open.. I had horrible anixety and depression the entire next day. Cried most of the day, (which I never do..) and horrible anixety all day... NEVER EVER TAKING THAT AGAIN.. I think I must be allergic..

Hi me and my wife tokk nyquil for a week (2 for me ).
We experience the same heart palpitations Is this common ?

I took NyQuil liquid for the flu I have and I don't know if it's part of the flu or a side effect of the medication but I can hardly make it to the bathroom! I'm super dizzy which scares me because it feels like I'm drunk. My cough is a little better but still congested way down deep and my fever is still 103.

I took two Nyquil liquigels last night before bed. Slept for 12 straight hours and felt totally stoned, dizzy and nauseous all day. It took just over 24 hours for the stoned dizzy feeling to go away. Not the way I wanted to spend a Sunday with my family.

Had Nyquil to supress cough yesterday. The effect was strange. I could understand the drowsiness it caused but the rest was bizarre. I was starting to have strange images and thoughts that made no sense. It felt that the medication was forcing a shutdown but my brain did not want to. This was happening every time I lied down. I then decided to stay awake to let the effect of the medication to subside. It did after a few hours and then I was able to sleep normally. But even throughout the day today, I am slightly dizzy. It did take away mu cough though.

i took nyquil lfor the first time and seems good to me because its helping my headache and soreness alot but i am super dizzie and i loose concious at moments

I take ny-quill at night to help me fall asleep, which works me. I have been taking it on a nightly basis for about two years. I was recently told that there was a program on the tv relative to the fact that the ingridients can cause liver cancer. Please advise me. Thank you.

I had very vivid dreams and then when I woke it seemed like my thoughts went on without me controling them. I ended up having a panic attack and barely slept the whole night. It did help with the flu symptoms thou. My husband also said he has very wierd dreams but he says he doesn't mind the nightmares.

as soon as I put in mouth before I even swallowed, a overwhelming response was to throw up, and increased after I swallowed. Is it normal to feel like wanting to throw it up?

Forget buying Roofies, looks like NyQuil's a lot cheaper.

that's what happened to me too, i took some a night ago, but i'm still having weird dreams and they feel so real...

None of that happened before i took nyquil. 

I took one (1) recommended dose of liquid Nyquil last evening around 7:00 pm due to congestion and cold symptoms.  I laid down in bed and went to sleep about an hour later.  I awoke around midnight with nausea and increased heart rate.  Also, my bedsheets felt like sandpaper against my legs.  I was not able to go back to sleep until after 4:00 am and had to get up at 5:45.  Good news, the cold symptoms are all but gone.  Bad news, my stomach feels like GARBAGE and I am lethargic. 

I am 64. 186lbs. 5'11", type2 diabetic. i run on an elliptical machine every other day. i take
500 mg in morning,and 500mg at night. just recently I have been using Nyquil to sleep> 
i was at the pharmacist and decided to take my BP and was alarmed to see that it had climbed to 145/86. . 
i am wondering if there is a contradiction with the metphormen and the Nyquil?
At any rate, I am going to discontinue taking the Nyquil and see if my blood pressure goes down. 
I also need to lower my weight about 10 lbs. I do do not smoke, but I have an occaisional glass of red wine.

Took nyquil last night since i had a cold and sorethroat, and at 4.00 am i woke up with shortness of breath and 5 minutes after i lost consciousness. I have never had this experience before. I am not on any medication, this is the only medicine i had.  I won't be using nyqil any more.

After taking Nyquil I tried to just lay down and relax, I started feeling really sleepy, it was like my brain was asleep an my body wasn't or vice-versa. So I asked my mom to help me upstairs so I could just sleep up there, when I stood up I had trouble breathing but I kept moving an about half way up the stairs I blacked out not remembering a thing, I "woke up" to my self gasping for air on the floor, blacked out again then "woke up" again to myself puking in a garbage can. I didnt know where I was even though I was in my room and I didn't know how I got upstairs. I didn't end up getting any sleep that night until the Nyquil was out of my system, which I threw up 4 times. My pupils were dialated the whole time until the Nyquil wore off as well. DONT TAKE NYQUIL. It's wicked stuff.

I have terrifying reactions as well, erring on the side of Silence of the Lambs and Shutter Island.  I wake up an hour later in a cold sweat, with my sheet wrapped around my neck, and last time it wasn't bruises or scratches, it was BITE MARKS. Yeah. No more medicine that says "may cause drowsiness" for me. Ever. (Benedryl does it too.)

Why did you think it was a good idea to take 30ml of Nyquil(650mg acetaminophen) after having a few drinks at a party?? Do you like your liver? Because it definitely hates you.

This is the third time that I have had an adverse reaction to NyQuill.  I am going to stop taking it for good!  One time on New Years I got a bad cold and wanted to be able to go to sleep during a party.  I had a few drinks and took the 30ML reccomended dose.  Couldnt sleep, heart palpitations, and felt like I was on a mix of LSD and speed.  Very paranoid. 

The second time I had a reaction I almost had to be rushed to the ER.  I took Nyquill and had just been prescribed Welbutrin to help me quit smoking.  I took the 30ML of Nyquill and half a dose of Welbutrin.  I woke up at 7 am and felt great.  Then I walked downstairs to get my coffee and as I was walking back up the stairs I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I looked at my husband and told him if I started getting any wierder to take me to the hospital.  I was having warm tingly sensations all over my body, lightheaded,  heat waves on my legs, arms and stomach & my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest.  Thank goodness our friend is a nurse in surgery and she was able to walk us thru what to do while at home.  She basically told me I was poisioned.  I thought it was the Welbutrin so I stopped taking it.

The third time was last night.  It wasn't as bad as the others but now I am convinced it is the Nyquill alone.  I woke up after the regular recommended dose 30 ML or 2 tablespoons and I feel like I am on speed or meth.  I can't function at work.  I also feel very anxious.  I am convinced my body can't handle Nyquill and will never take it again, I think it is dangerous.  If I have another cold or sickness I am going to have to stick to the Tylenol PM.

I kept waking up dripping with sweat. No a little sweat, but a ton of sweat everywhere. Is nyquil actually helping?

Your the one that's a fucking idiot... Even if they are OTC .. Drugs affect people in different ways. Tylenol and Aleve destroy your insides if you take them regularly... Having a prescription has nothing to do with anything.. It Shows how ignorant you are

Every time I dose myself before sleep with nyquil (or store brand nyquil), I have very strange nightmares. Really terrifying stuff. Feel stressed out when I wake up.

I took Nyquil last night because I wasn't feeling well and I needed a good night's rest. I took the pill form, but I only took one pill (instead of the 2 that comes in one package). I knew that would be enough for me because I only weigh 90 or so pounds. I woke up this morning sweating like crazy. I went down the hall to turn the air conditioner and I went to the bathroom. While unsing the restroom, I got extremely dizzy to the point where I couldn't see anything and then I started to sweat. I was dripping sweat and couldn't hold myself up on the toilet. I didn't pass out, but it happened more than once in a few hours. I drank a little water and then ate a little. It helped, but I could barely funtion. I think it was mainly the dehydration. This is the second time I've taken Nyquil and woken up completely dehydrated.

due to taking medications for rumethroid arthrisist my husband has a constant runny nose. my concern is he has been taking a dose of nyquil to help control the problem, is a long term use harmful. His breathing is a problem and sleeps a lot. He has been using this every day for a least four months.

I took nyquil two nights in a row.  On the second night, I woke up after 5 hours and had to urinate.  I had concentrated urine (sign of dehrdration).  After urinating, I passed out and fell in the bathroom.  I passed out and fell moments later and then again in the hallway, where I stayed unresponsive for 15 seconds.  I am a 24 yr old healthy male.  I had a slight fever.  Has anyone had similar reactions?

I can't begin to explain how Nyquil made me felt. I get scared for night time and start shaking, because I know that bad feeling will come back. Sometimes I have to wake up in the middle of the night and sit in my living room and pray. Or I'd have someone stay with me in my room until I fall asleep.

ive taken nyquil two nights in a row, and i have had the most horrifying nightmares. not only were they awful dreams, but they felt completely real.

I became unusual. Sleepy, tired, beyond the above places that you cannot find in bed and above all else, I could see the elves as they worked their magic in my subconcious. That is all.

I took NyQuil like for 2 years everynight and I keep gaining weight.

I have been taking Nyquil every night for a year.  I am having urinating frequency and am not sure if it is the reason.

My cousin who is 45 liver shut down.  His liver is non-functional, he is in a coma and needs a liver transplant.

I took Nyquil around 9:30 last night. Shortly after 10 I started having severe restlessness in my legs even though the rest of my body felt limp. It felt like everytime I went to move my arms it was like trying to move through molasses. Even now, 14+ hours later, my legs are still extremely restless and I'm groggy.

I took nyquil for two nights now, and both times i had a very bad dream. It may not be considered a nightmare to most people but to me it was. In the dream i cheated on my bf, and thats something i would never EVER do, nor do i want to. these dreams only started when i started taking the nyquil. I stopped for one day, and the dream stopped as well.

I took nyquil last night and the night before, and i had an incredibly vivid dream both nights, and i loved the experience.
