  • Near the end of the test…

    Near the end of the test I suddenly felt as if my ears were on fire. The top of my mouth and back of my throat started itching severely. I let the hospital lab people know. They asked if they could finish the test and I said okay. Soon after my throat felt like it was closing and very tight. I could not swallow and then I got scared and tried to let them know something was definitely wrong. I could barely talk, only a raspy whisper came out. They had me sit up and considered sending me to the ER section of the hospital. They examined my throat and said they did not see anything. At this point feeling like they were discounting my concern. I struggled very hoarsely to remind them my voice sounded nothing like this when I came in. They agreed this was true. They said they could send me to ER now or I could sit and wait and see if symptoms got worse or eased off. I asked to sit and after about 10 minutes I started feelling a little better. With some effort I could swallow but my voice was very horse. They aske me to sit in the waiting room another half hour to see how I felt and if I was okay to drive home. Bit by bit I felt better and my voice returned so I left when the half hour was up. I did not notice any further reaction.
