I've been taking the H Pak for 8 days now. These have been the side effects I've experienced. A bitter taste in my mouth all day including every night. It wakes me up. I spend the whole day with mints or gum in my mouth to get rid of the bitterness. I've also experienced headaches throughout the week. Once in a while I feel nausea. In the mornings I do feel dull pains in my stomach but as the day goes by it fades. I've found that I've been extremely tired during the day. Today has been the first day that I've been less tired. But I must say I'd rather take the HPak 100 times over and over again rather than to suffer with the pains of this bacteria. I've lived with it for too many years. It's not worth it. The risk of getting ulcers or eventually stomach cancer is not worth overlooking.
What I can recommend to everyone who is suffering with these side affects is drink lots of yogurt I find it helps coat your stomach, drink lots and lots of fluid. It's important to keep hydrated. Specially the first days taking the pills. Keep mints or minty gum around when you feel the bitterness creeping in your mouth and lastly if you are nauseous and you don't like taking gravol bc of the drowsy side effect they have the chewable ginger gravol which is all natural and easier to handle with no drowsyness.

Hope these tips may help anyone out. I was extremely scared of taking this medication. I waited four years and now that I've experienced them I regret not taking them earlier.

I'm four days in on Prev Pak. I have had NO Stomach Pain. NONE. The first day I had terrible heart palpitations and I though I was going to hyperventillate. I looked it up and, and this drug has vasodilators in it. OPens up the veins. Explains a lot. The second day, terrible metallic taste in my mouth (but Iron does the same thing, so I wasn't too put off by that). Headache. Throbbing, constant headache. Also on the second day, the palpitations stopped, and I had OOBER Energy!!! Opening up those veins, oxygen flowing in.....AWESOME!!!

Third and fourth day, however, increasingly worsening leg pain. Bad, bad ache.....so bad, that I want to cry - and I am saying this as a woman with so high a pain threshold I had two root canals with no anesthesia!! My leg friggin HURTS!!! Called the doctor today to make it stop. Cut it off. I don't care. Just make the pain go away!

I'll know more when the doctor calls back.

H. Pylori is a horrible bacteria, but this PrevPak is a TERRIBLE drug!!! I hate this medication, and cannot wait until it is over!!!

Oh! P.S. I did not have the instatiable hunger. I had the opposite. I am not hungry at all, and have lost 5 pounds in four days.

I could not take the Iron they prescribed me with the PrevPak for the anemia from the Peptic ulcer. It made me vomit.

First few days, SERIOUS stomach pain.. hurt for hours.. curled up and just slept.
Also, really bad taste in the mouth, very drowsy, just felt like absolute crap.
Lately, there are no side effects except for dull stomach pain after eating.. and a lot of hair loss..

Today is my 7th day. I have had a bad itch all over my body. The first days I had horrible stomach aches. After the 2nd day, I have had a horrible taste in my mouth that I can not get rid of for anything. I have been overly hungry. I feel worse than what I did in the beginning. *DONT_KNOW*

Well: day two of PrevPac to treat H. Pylori: The medicine is so strong that I can't get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth. my stomach hurts for hours after taking it, even with trying to eat as much as possible after taking it.

This morning I had to leave work, co-workers said that physically I looked aweful! Don't know how I'm going to get my requried work completed. My honey stayed up with me half the night to keep an eye on me due to my reaction. If it worsens I'll be contacting the doctor, some of the side effects I just read scared the heck outta me!

So far the main symptom is EXTREME HUNGER. I think I might gain 10 pounds on this drug. I also had a little more stool, and loose, but I feel good with this. A little weird taste in mouth, and headache (but I get headaches).

i am a 16 yr old who has finished my 14 days of taking this. I was taking it for a bacterial infection for my stomach and sadly i am back to my same condition before the medication. AND there is now blood in my stool :( what to do?

I can't seen to quench my thirst. or get the weird tatse out of my mouth, there \fore i am constantlyt chewing gum.

I am been using it for 4 days. it makes me tasteless, dry everywhere in the body

if it  heals my heartburn , I will recommended. it

I was prescribed Prevpac for a bacterial infection in my stomach, after reading about it and its side effects, i'm scared to take it...........what would you do in my situation?
