Protonix

I was taking Protonix for an ulcer and severe gastritis. I am very sensitive to medication. Within a few days, I headaches all day long, vaginitis for the only time in my 50 years, and severe hair loss. It came out by the literal handfuls-----which kept me depressed! All cleared up within a few days of stopping the medication. (My hair has not grown back.) "Less than 1%" get these side effects.

I had been on Protonix for the second time and had started having the fluttering in the chest area, also. There seems to be a tightness there all the time. I went off of the med. for a week+ and the symtoms finally pretty much stopped but the heartburn was back bigtime and I had to start the med again so the chest discomfort is back.

I have been on protonix for about 3-4 months.
I recently have been feeling a fluttering heart, which I never had before.

I have been on Protonix for about 2 weeks now.  It is the first time in a long time that I have not been in pain.  Now I'm reading all these side effects on-line and it scares me.  It feels great not to be in pain, but if I start having these side effects I will have to try something else:(

My doctor prescribed protonix after HPylori infection and then caused severe gastritis.  I took one pill (40mg) every morning.  I did this for over six months.  My gastritis improved, if not disappaered.  I did loose weight, which I was not happy about.  I was thin and lost more weight and stopped running.  Now, doing much better.

At first it was a little burning in my nose, ears ringing and random vertigo and not being able to drive at night cuz i just can't see right. Got off it and onto prilosec and that caused worse dizziness! I had to get back on protonix. Now I have a severe burning sensation in my left side of nose every day and then afterward a pressure behind and under my eye and in my head and then a headache and most times in the morning when I blow my nose there is a little bit of dried blood. Thinking it was a sinus infection I went to the doctor and the she prescribed me a zpack...didn't work. So now all I can figure is its the protonix since Im not on anything else and doctors just don't care.

Is hair loss normal on this drug?

I HAVE BEEN ON PROTONIX FOR 1 MONTH IN HALF I HAVE EXPERIENCED RASH AND HIVES BLISTERS I WAS DIAGNOSIS WITH GERD AND GIVEN A ASPIRIN A DAY, CLONIDINE, AND SINGULAR.  THIS DRUG TAKES MORE THAN IT GIVES.

RASHES AND HIVES developed. I am allergic to the medicine might different experience to other people.

I was prescribed Protonix by my doctor due to GERD. I took it for a month and it did help my acid reflux. After 2 weeks of taking it, I developed severe hives and rashes all over my body but still continued using it. I thought we were infested with bed bugs and fleas only to find out it was the side effects of protonix. It totally was not worth it. Id rather take tums.
