Remeron

i have recently come off venlafaxine after 7 years and after a recent spell in hospital i was prescribed remeron/mirtazipine. things were ok for about two weeks but now i am experiencing high levels of agitation, panic and and an extremly unpleasant feeling inside of what i can best describe as my mind which feels razor sharp. sleep is difficult as i expeirence a claustrofobic fear and where past events from my life, ie the sort of things many of us do and regret are amplified in my mind.
my doctor and CPN's seem very dismissive of this and i am wondering whether it is just me or if there is anyone else who can relate to the above feelings/experience.

I requested Megase for my husband to increase his appetite and he given Remeron. It was ordered ( 1 or 2 tabs) at bed time. He awakened the next day and had hallucinated for three days and nights. He had about all of the side effects that this drug had. I read every web site that wrote about is. No were did it state appetite enhancer. It was mainly used for very deep depression (which he did not have.) Dr. was notified. Stated it will wear off. (other side effects were:overactive reflexes-loss coordination -fever-chills- white patches -soresin mouth and lips-troube concentrating-(memory problems which he still has afterthree weeks) Memory as not knowing how to use the remote for the TV and was very excellent on the computer. We have all our personal info, on it and can`t remember how to use it. Weakness- feeling unsteady-and confusion. It has been three weeks siince this happened. But is now still with the memory problem. Had MRI - was negative. All infor was sent to FDA and they want more info. I am wondering how many more have had this bad experience. Don`t understand when all he needed was an appetite enhancer. I was told that Remeron was one.

Why would someone abuse or misuse Remeron?

I have read that it causes hypertension.

Prescribed remeron (mirtazapine 30mg) by error when listed as allergy/intolerance/hallucinigenic by medical professional.  After unknowingly taking this tri-cyclic class antidepressant for sleep disorder for 6 days and having terrible abnormal dreams, discontinued use.  Still not knowing, I went to a store and shoplifted with NO PREVIOUS CRIMINALHISTORY-was arrested charged and awaiting trial.  I do not remember most of arrest process even the person who fingerprinted me. 1 day after discontinuing, I had a serious fall inwhich I fractured my nose an deye socket, also injure hip quite bad and I am still receiving treatment for that and have to see a specialist about the facial fractures. 2 days later I was hospitalized due to confusion and inability to communicate effectuvely.  The attending physician diagnosed remeron withdrawal symptom.  It has been six weeks now and still dealling with some whoosh in head at times and tingling in legs/hips at bedtime.  Will I ever recover from this error?

it was about 10 years ago (I would have been about 22 at the time) and I was in the hospital recovering from brain surgery. I think the drug must have built up in my system overtime to extreme levels  because only after being on it for months did I develop any symptoms like this....it was like  a body wide parkinson's like condition, and almost overnight, it seemed. It tightened up what seemed like every single voluntary muscle form my heck to my legs, since the doctors in that perticular hospital where stumped as to the cause they sent me to a larger hospital in Seattle. that was the worst ride in an ambulance every, the ride was just about two hours. Like I said before every single voluntary muscle in my body was tight, so every muscle in my back and neck was super tight. I couldn't speak without slurring becuase all the muscles in my jaw were over tight. I wasn't even able to keep` my head straight, it was like I was a turtle, trying to squeeze my neck and head back into my shell...only problem was- I didn't have one of those. Painful is one way you could look at how it felt, excruciating is what I would choose to describe it.
Anyway they got me to the hospital in Seattle and after a bit they discovered it  was a very very odd allergic reaction and got it out of my system right away

My 82 year old mom was taking sotalol for atrial fib and warfarin (a blood thinner) she was then treated with Remeron and proceeded to have a stroke. Any input on whether the Remeron cause the stroke?

My 35 year old brother was put on Remeron for depression and anxiety.  He became acutely depressed, anxious, and died in 2007.  

My husband who was suffering from severe, acute depression, axiety, sleeplessness, was treated with remeron, after which I saw him becoming psychotic and more agitated. He was hospitilized in Zoetermeer, Holland in a clinic, and the second night there he comitted suicide. This was on the 13th januari 1999
