  • The life of the 60 years…

The life of the 60 years old product has ended on august 2011, damn it! Try Tom's toothpastes or your dentist for a 20 box toothpaste without fluoride. It's now for the elite now.

  • I have been using Sensodyne…

I have been using Sensodyne original for years. I haven't noticed any side effects. My question is where can I buy the original toothpast. None of the stores carry it anymore. All the other different types that claim to whiten will only increase sensitivity so I don't know why they claim to help sensative teeth. I don't really find that the sensodyne works as good now as it use to either.

  • About four months ago I had…

About four months ago I had a bad experience with a "whitening sensitive" toothpaste - where the inside skin of my mouth would slough off. As soon as I switched to a non-whitening variety, that stopped.
My lips (especially the lower) stilll feel swollen and tingly. Lip balm with any menthol will burn - so I use vaseline on my lips at night. Most of the day the inside of my lips feel tacky or dry - and drinking liquids does not help. I notice that eating raw fruit increases the discomfort.
I also have been complaining that the filtered water from our refrigerator tastes bad - even though we have a new filter.
I have used sensitive toothpastes for years - usually Sensodyne or Colgate Sensitive.
I think I'll try switching to a regular toothpaste and see if it clears up the problem.

  • I started using Sensodyne…

I started using Sensodyne recently and am having extreme dry mouth, my lips burn, not feeling well, last night I could not sleep, until I saw this website I would have never guessed. :( I also have this odd taste in my mouth, going to start just using baking soda and water. It seems I can't drink enough water right now, hoping symptoms improve quickly

  • I developed a rash just below…

I developed a rash just below my lip on one side of my chin, then the other , then all away across bu upper chin
I quit makeup and lipstick for two weeks and it was still there. One night I noticed that the toothpaste was dripping down below my lip after I brushed. I quit Sensodyne Extra Whitening and it is clearing up. What indredient caused this problem?

  • I started using this toothpaste…

I started using this toothpaste a little over a week ago. A couple of days ago in woke to find my bottom lip slightly swollen and sore. I thought I bit my lip in my sleep. This morning when I woke up my lips were so swollen and sore. I look like I've had collagen injections. I came to the conclusion that it must be the new toothpaste.

  • i started using this tooth…

i started using this tooth paste about 4 or 5 weeks ago. it worked good at first, but now my teeth are sensative to sugar and it hurts when i eat anything sweet. at first it helped with that, but its not anymore, i brush my teeth twice a day now after a week of using this tooth paste, and i use as it directs on the tube.

  • I started using this toothpaste…

I started using this toothpaste about 3 weeks ago. I started to notice that my lips and gums were irritated. My bottom lip itched and tingly. Little by little, I noticed that I would wake up in the morning with slightly swollen lips. Recently, I woke up with my lips so swollen, you would have thought that I just had a botox injection. Spicey food burned my lips and it felt like the moisture was sucked out of them. I finally discussed this with my brother's mother-in-law, who is a RN. She asked me some questions and then asked me if I had a new toothpaste. I couldn't believe that could be it. I stopped using it and now only using pure baking soda to brush my teeth and can only use pure Vaseline on my lips because they still have some irritation. I was definitely shocked.

  • to add to the above...i have…

to add to the above...i have also noticed some jaw pain as well as feeling as if I am getting an ear ache in both ears.

I DO NOT recommend this product!

  • I started using this toothpaste…

I started using this toothpaste to help get a cleaner feeling as well as whiter teeth. After a few days I noticed that my gums were very irritated, somewhat red and a burning/tingling feeling, as well as my teeth being very sore. I thought maybe this was just part of it so I continued to use it for a few more days. On the 8th day I could hardly eat because my teeth hurt so bad. I decided to floss hoping that maybe something was stuck between my teeth somewhere and was causing the problem, however, when i did this a portion of one of my teeth actually broke off! I have also noticed that behind my front teeth it almost seems as if my gums are peeling away.

I stopped using this product two days ago because I could no longer handle the pain. My teeth are not quite as sensitive now and my gums aren't burning quite as bad. I am hoping that after a few more days things will get back to normal. However, prior to using this product I had great teeth and I now have to make an appt to go see my dentist to get the broken tooth fixed!

  • Have used Pronamel Toothpaste…

Have used Pronamel Toothpaste ever since I had a reaction to toothpaste. Pronamel Toothpaste now is giving me problems. These problems are dry mouth, chapped lips with dryness around my lips.

  • I put some sensodyne toothpaste…

I put some sensodyne toothpaste on a sore tooth before I went to bed last night and I kept waking up all night, when I got up this morning I felt like I was drugged, I could hardly walk and I was dizzy, my blood pressure is usually normal but when I checked this morning it was very high. I have used sensodyne for a long time but yesterday I bought rapid relief and I rubbed it on my teeth.....bad idea!

  • KB. Thanks for the info.…

KB. Thanks for the info. I'm feeling all these simptoms. Went to doctors after a using for a few days and could not figure out what it could be until the next day after spending $75 dollars on a doctor visit. I'm glad to have read yours and others response of this toothepaste. I have dry mouth, numbness, sore tongue, no taste buds, thank God I found out after only a few days and figured out it could be the sensodyne toothepaste. Thank you so much. KB

  • after using sensodyne extra…

after using sensodyne extra fresh, I have swollen lips and very sore on the front inside of lips

  • I've lost my taste buds too,…

I've lost my taste buds too, I will post when my mouth feels normal again.

  • It's been approx a week to…

It's been approx a week to two weeks and I'm having promblems with dry mouth and throat, difficulty swallowing . I'm glad I looked it up cause I'm not the only one with promblems with sensodyne. I'm discontinuing and throwing my toothbrush. I'd rather have sensitive teeth than have this!

  • I suddenly became very nauseous…

I suddenly became very nauseous and could not eat or even drink much of anything. Two trips to the doctor and blood work and they could not find any reason for my nausea. I had gone through one complete tube of Sensodyne toothpaste and remembered the "yucky" taste I had continued to have since using it and how foods/drinks didn't taste the same and so I got on my computer to research Sensodyne and found others with this same problem. I quit using it a week ago (the day I saw these comments) and today I am not so nauseous, but my taste still has not returned to normal and I still can't eat normal. Am hoping all will return to normal soon. There should be warnings on the box about these side effects! I am now wondering if I will ever be able to return to normal and how long it will take. If anyone else had this loss of taste side effect and got their taste back, please let me know how long it took.

  • For the past week or so I…

For the past week or so I have been experiencing numbness in my mouth (cheeks, gums and tongue) and a loss of taste. I have been quite concerned about it, thinking it was a neurological problem. I was so relieved to find this site and discover that it is probably related to using Sensodyne. I started using Sensodyne exclusively about 2 months ago. I have stopped using it for now, but I am worried that my sense of taste will not return to normal. For as much money as I paid to help my tooth sensitivity, I did not bargain for this...

  • I first used Sensodyne last…

I first used Sensodyne last year and after a few days the pain from my teeth was gone. The only problem was that the skin on the inside of my mouth would peel constantly. I started developing sores under the skin in my left cheek. Explained this to my dentist and he recommended discontinuing the use of sensodyne. I did and the problems went away after about three weeks. In January, 2011, like an idiot I decided to use Sensodyne again because of the tooth pain. The skin started peeling again and the sores came back. It has now been 10 months since I stopped using Sensodyne and I've seen little to no improvement in the sores. This has caused terrible anxiety especially considering I'm trying to finish my undergrad studies. Thanks a lot Sensodyne, I'd tell ya where to go, but I'll keep this civil. DO NOT USE SENSODYNE!!!

  • I have used Sensodyne for…

I have used Sensodyne for well over one year. In the past month I have developed a terrible metallic, bitter taste in my mouth that I have NEVER had before. It is like there is no saliva and I am chewing old pennies...so odd.

Akk of my lower molars feel really rough on the cheek side of the teeth too. It is so strange.

I just went and brushed my teeth with Sensodyne and something in me said - HEY! - Could it be the toothpaste?! I ended up here. I am throwing it away and we shall see! I will report back in a month.

    Good luck everyone.

  • Oct 2011 I started using…

Oct 2011 I started using Sensodyne ProEnamel about two weeks ago. About 3 days later I began having very painful cold sores on my tongue. I have used Sensodyne in the past to minimize sensitive teeth. I never associated it with the cold sores I regularly experienced.

About a year ago I started using Tom's natural toothpaste without any Sodium Laurel Sulfate. I shifted to the 'with whitener' formulation but my teeth bacame quite sensitive before the tube was exhausted. My dentist told me that the whitening ingredient in many toothpastes was causing problems for a lot of his patients. I do not know if regular style Sensodyne is problematic or only the ProEnamel formulation.

  • Been using Sensodyne for…

Been using Sensodyne for almost 10 years and never had a problem. But cold and hot things that normally hur my teeth don't hurt after about a week of using it.

  • i started using sensodine…

i started using sensodine because i had a level one out of ten pain in one tooth and i figured why not now the whole side of my mouth aches all day and i can hardly chew anything.. even my jaw throbs... my pain is now a nine out of ten ive stopeed using the tooth paste and now the pain will not leave... i barely sleep barely eat and my stomach even aches because of the pain in my teeth

  • Started using Sensodyne toothpas…

Started using Sensodyne toothpaste approximately 4-5 months ago. Within the past 2 months I have had the lining (skin) of my mouth start peeling off. I have lost my ability to taste and smell.

I finally took a step back and looked at what I had changed in my routine and the toothpaste was the only thing. (Medically, physically or diet wise). I stopped using the Sensodyne a week ago. I am finally no longer losing the skin of my mouth every few days, and have a very muted sense of taste. Still not able to smell. Am hoping that all will return to normal!

  • My husband used Sensodyne…

My husband used Sensodyne with whitening in it for about 4 days. His lower lip is basically burnt and very sore. The inside of his mouth became very raw. I tried the toothpast once and it burned my lip and mouth. He called the Sensodyne 800 number and was told there is nothing wrong with their product. With all these side effects there has to be something that can be done. So frustrating.

  • Yes- I've had this too, but…

Yes- I've had this too, but I didn't ever put two and two together! I was told to use it like a cream and apply it constantly throughout the day and night to my sore teeth so I may be ingesting too much?!

  • I started using Sensodyne…

I started using Sensodyne about three weeks ago because of sensitivity in one tooth. It seemed to help but about three days ago I notice my tooth was painful to the touch by that evening the right side of the roof of my mouth was swollen and the uvula was also involved. I also noticed a bitter taste and tingling in my mouth. My ear hurts and I have a headache. I started to get suspicious this morning and looked online about sensodyne side effects and to my surprise what do I find but this website with information about Sensodyne side effects. I thought I had an abscess and called my dentist, who was closed for the holiday weekend, and he prescribed an antibiotic which I have recently developed an allergy too and my throat swelled up.

  • I started using sensodynd…

I started using sensodynd whitening after I got a few fillings done and my teeth are always achey. My gums seem normal and I havnt had any sores. Could this be because of the tooth paste or what else could e wrong?

  • Started using Sensodyne 4…

Started using Sensodyne 4 days ago. On the third day noticed large sores on right inside cheek and swollen tongue. Today I had pain in my right ear. Went to doctor. He said my ear was inflamed but could not explain why. When I got home I remembered that I just started to use Sensodyne and went on the computer for side effects (none of the effects I was having were listed on package). Thank goodness I found this site! Will not be using product again!

  • Used sensodyne for about…

Used sensodyne for about a year. Had mouth dryness without thirst and terrible snoring, dry nose and ears, dry cough. A month ago very sore burning mouth with swelling and teeth sticking to inside of mouth. Only now are symptoms abating after one month of not using the product. Now using only sodium bicarb to clean teeth. Minty toothpastes aggravate symptoms. Worse perhaps is year of slight depression and no motivation. This was an important year for me doing my Masters. It was desperation which made me google this item. Cannot understand why it is still on the market. What is going on? Who on Earth would have put their depression down to their toothpaste? Only when mouth (and respiratory) symptoms got so bad it pointed to the toothpaste. I am hoping it leaves no after effects.

  • I have been using sensodyne…

I have been using sensodyne for three months due to sensitive teeth. The product did work to stop my sensitive and I could eat without pain. But now 3 months later I've had terrible gum soreness and swelling. For one week it's been hard to eat, chew, and have a constant throbbing pain. I couldn't figure out what else it would be other than sensodyne. I'm going to stop using the product and I bet the pain will go away.

  • I have been using sensodyne…

I have been using sensodyne for many years but over the last 6 months have had a lot of trouble with my teeth and gums been painful ,further My lips swelled, stuck together and blistered continually. The specialists ran tests and took a biopsy but ran out of ideas as to the cause of my problems. I tried cutting out all sorts of different foods, but to no avail. Exasperated I tried a different tooth paste and now I don't have the problem.

i have been using Sensodyne for a month now & i don't have no taste in my mouth feel like i was licking iron or had a bunch of pennies in there i'm gonna stop using this product immediately

  • I have been using sensodyne…

I have been using sensodyne for about 4 months. It has helped tremendously with my cold sensitivity, but causes the skin on the interior of my mouth (checks) to peel off and become very irritated and bleed a little. I liked this product but am now scared to use it. I guess I will have to find something else.

Burning to the roof of my mouth and extreme inflamation and pain to my top and lower gums. It was days before I could return to a normal diet!!

  • I have been using sensodine…

I have been using sensodine for the past 1.5 weeks, have been having strange heart palpitations and last night felt very sick, sore throat and my teeth ached and my head had shooting pains - I actually went to the doctor last week about the palpitations, but looking back and looking at the notes everyone has left on here I think it must be the toothpaste - I will not use it again - I am actually having and ECG as a result of the palpitations tomorrow - it shouldnt be allowed to be on market at all - very damaging.

  • Weather or not this is the…

Weather or not this is the cause I cannot be sure, but the other evening I tried sensodyne toothpaste with baking soda (I believe I have used it b/4 without any side effects) this time by mid morning ard 4am I woke up, my mouth felt funny like swollen, I ck'd in the mirror and it looked like my upper lip and lower lip on the right side were larger than normal. I began rinsing my mouth with just plain water trying to remove any access of the toothpaste out. It seems to have worked still swollen a little though. This is the only thing out of the ordinary that I used or took.I will not use it again.

  • I started using Sensodyne…

I started using Sensodyne about 5 months ago for a broken tooth. Just like it claims the sensitivity left the tooth and I could once again eat on it so I continued to use it, but I started to feel sick all the time. I had a salty taste in my mouth, was very dizzy, sometimes with heart palpatations at night, lost about 10 pounds (because I've been so nauseous). I started having extreme abdominal gas pain which I've seen my doctor twice about, mouth ulcers, very low blood pressure, extreme fatigue and cramping in my right calf muscle. I have never had cramps in my legs before. I could not figure out why I was so sick until yesterday when I started to think about what I' ve been doing the last 5 months. It dawned on me that Sensodyne was the only new thing I had added. I decided to look up Sensodyne to see if anyone else had had a problem with it and found I was not alone. I will not be brushing my teeth with it anymore. I still have nausea and dizziness, but I hope in a few days I will start to feel better. I told a friend about my symptoms and her daughter is having the same problem. Someone needs to look into this and do it soon before something really bad happens to one of us.

  • I was told to use sensodyne…

I was told to use sensodyne pronamel by my dentist. I've never had sensitive teeth but my enamel was being worn down. I've been using it for about 2 weeks and the last few days I have noticed that my teeth are really sore. I can barely chew my food because it is so painful. I think that I will stop using it. I just hope that this sensitivity in my teeth will go away. :(

  • I used it once. I brushed…

I used it once. I brushed my teeth at 10 pm and went to bed, wearing a night guard. My bottom lip started to swell within an a hour. I took the night guard out. I couldn't sleep so I went on the couch to rest. I kept getting up and down because my lips felt funny, tingling, etc. My bottom lip swelled, my top lip swelled I looked like a chimpanzee. My ears were tingling and I had a lump in my throat The sensaztion was that my throat was closing finally got me in a panic. It was 12:30. I searched for benadryl and found one chewable tablet and a half of a regular tablet. ( I normally take a half a tablet to relieve infrequent sinus allergies ) I gave myself a half hour to see results or i was going to wake my husband and head 1 hour to the hospital. Luckily, I did sense a bit of relief and by 2:30 was relax enough and now getting tired from the benadryl to go to bed. My husband woke and was surprised at my puffiness. He usually goes to work at this time. He stayed home to make sure I didn't have any reverse reactions. Slept till 7, took another benadryl at 9 and still noticibly puffy. Now 2:30 in the afternoon feeling 75% normal. Throat sitll funny sensations, puffy but not anxious.

  • I started using Sensodyne…

I started using Sensodyne 2 weeks ago because my gums are slightly sensitive. Since then I have had terrible gum and tooth pain. I didn't think it could be caused by the sensodyne until i read these posts. The pain is so bad it gives me headaches and i've been taking ibuprofen every 4 hours. I'm going to stop using it and see if that helps. I'm glad i search for symptoms and found this site

  • After a few days on Sensodyne…

After a few days on Sensodyne my constant sensitivity diminished until it was gone. On the other hand I started having a red raw throat the persisted. I saw an ENT pyhysician and he suggested I stop Sensodyne for a few days. The red raw throat symptms have gone away

  • I am having a very bad tonge…

I am having a very bad tonge and tips. the inner side of my cheeks are full of red spots. the bottom of tongue is fully red. i cannot sallow my saliva... it started to feel like a fungus type tape is fit inside lips.
i was wondering it is the end!!.... but

as soon as i knew my mother too have a problem i analyzed and found the culprit... sensodyne.
as a recheck asked my brothers if they have any such problems.. they too had the same symptoms.

may be we should restrict the quantity to a bare minimum or chances are that my two bottles might have contaminated

but after seeing all these i think..it is not my bottle

  • I began using Sensodyne…

I began using Sensodyne & the pro-Crest version at the start of March for tooth sensitivity to cold.  Now roughly five weeks later of product use where I previously had gum surgery has a painful ulcer as does my inner cheek and my left ridge of my tongue is really swollen for the past 4 days.

Since I stopped using Sensodyne & the pro-Crest version (4 days ago) I am starting to heal.  Quoting the late Rick James "Sensodyne is one hell of a drug" so don't use more then 3 weeks.  Believe ME!

  • I used it for months and…

I used it for months and was experiencing anxiety and felt otherwise emotionally dull, tired and not at all like myself.  Within days of stopping Sensodyne I began to feel like myself again. It was the only thing that I had changed and I am so glad I stopped.  Now I just need to find something to halp my tooth sensitivity.

  • I used Pronamel Sensodyne…

I used Pronamel Sensodyne for 2 days and noticed my tongue really hurt.
We were traveling to a District Convention daily so my focus was not on
this until at lunch I looked at my tongue because as I was eating my sandwich and had to use my tongue to slide the bread in my mouth off of my teeth.
I recall thinking, "Wow.  This is not normal.  I never recall having pain like this
and it has been a few days now."
To my shock, I had a weird patterned red bordered area and y tongue looked like I had craters in it!
The pain was lower, toward the tip and centralized.  Not thinking it was from
this awful stuff, I continued on wondering if Iwere getting sick or getting something weird and may need to see a doctor!
I am 40 and have great teeth which are sensitive to cold.  I NEVER experienced anything like this this before, though I have burned my tongue or bit it throughout my life.
At any rate by day 5, I realized the only difference in my diet/daily routine was this toothpaste.  I looked online at Google Images because it looked like
it was a "rash" / almost like a ringworm, (gasp!) that when I googled,
appeared to look like something called "Geographic Tongue".  The difference from what I read online was that this "GT" doesn't hurt.
Mine hurt very bad, kind of like I scalded my tongue BAD.  I had 36 hours of intense labor and am not a pain wimp so when I tell you it hurt bad, there's my
    proof.
I think this stuff should be banned as if this were a child I knew of experiencing this, I'd be livid!
If 49%+ say there is a problem with this product, why is it styill being sold and given at the dentist's office!?
I left a message for them to contact me.  Yay Close Up Cinnamon!  Flossing and Close Up have been what have always worked and I will never try a new toothpaste nor a Pronamel product of any kind again.

  • I started using sensodyne…

I started using sensodyne maxium strength with whitiening about a week ago and, I have been having a numb feeling on my jaws and gums so, I plan on stop using this product today

  • A year ago i had an incredibly…

A year ago i had an incredibly sore tongue, it took a while to realise that it migth be the sensodyne. I stopped using it, my tongue got better.
Yesterday we had run out of 'normal' toothpaste so i used my husbands sensodyne ONCE and today i can hardly put my tongue back in my mouth it is so sore. small sores on it and it looks really cracked.   My dentist told me that she gets a sore tongue with Sensodyne and to try elmex toothpaste cos it might be better.

  • I just started using sensodyne…

I just started using sensodyne whitening toothpaste about 2 weeks ago.  My gums are swollen and bleed when I brush and now one area by a tooth has what appears to be a canker sore and is like the gum has been eaten away.  Anyone else having this problem?  Also I've read that people have been having muscle pain.  Last week it felt like I had a charlie horse in my leg but never did.  The muscle just hurt for two days.

My boyfriend just started using Sensodyne a few days ago. Right away he started complaing about a sore tongue and gums, his gums and cheeks have swelled. I'm glad I found these posts and have told him today to stop using it. Hopefully his symptoms go away soon.

  • I started using sensodyne…

I started using sensodyne for a little sensitivity after having a cavity filled. I used it for 5 days and then woke up with canker sore on the inside of my mouth and the underside of my tongue. I also had a raw feeling on the tip of my tongue, severe tootha dn lower jaw pain, and right sided ear pain. I stopped using it 2 days ago and symptoms still severe. How long will it take to go back to normal?

  • The numbing effects of the…

The numbing effects of the Sensodyne Isoactive product made me get numbing problems in my stomach and upper intestine. I became very ill with pain and not wanting to eat. It actually put me into the hospital for 4 days on an IV and strong pain killers. I had no idea that the toothpaste caused the problems and the doctors could not figure it out.
I went by referral to a homeopathic doctor who went over all my symtoms. She asked what toothpaste I used and I told her SENSODYNE ISOACTIVE.. She advised me to stop using and within a week I felt much better and could start to eat again. It is too bad I had to have a $36,000 hospital bill to go along with my problem.

i recently started using sensodyne and the inside of my bottom lip felt and looked ulcerated and tasted very metallic.I didn't even think it could be sensodyne to start with and started wondering what i had eaten etc, then put the 2 together ,stopped using it and my lips returned to normal.Won't be using again!

  • I have used regular Sensodyne…

I have used regular Sensodyne in the past and been very happy with how much it helps with sensitivity... Recently, I bought a tube of Sensodyne extra whitening and after 2 weeks of using this product, my teeth are not sensitive but my gums are swollen, sore and bleeding. It's been 4 days since i discontinued this product and I am in incredible pain. Ibuprofen helps for a few hours but what can i do to fix this????

  • So glad I found this website....…

So glad I found this website....I thought perhaps I was going nuts.

I am 55 years old and started using Sensodyne about 2 months ago.  I am on my second tube and noticed a gradual effect on me both physically and emotionally.

I am a VERY outgoing person.  My youngest son says I will talk to a wall.  After using this toothpaste, I became very reclusive.  Just wanted to sleep all the time.  I had no interest in doing my usual tasks.  Just not myself at all.

Since this was the only change I had made, I can't see what else it could be.

I stopped using it today, so we will see if I get better.  I don't expect it to happen over night, but I hope it does reverse itself.

Pretty teeth certainly is not worth feeling the way I do now.

  • I recently purchased Sensodyne…

I recently purchased Sensodyne about a week ago.  My mouth was not feeling normal and I thought the toothpaste was strenghening by enamel.  However, this morning while brushing my teeth you'd think I bit my tongue in half from the amount of blood gushing out of my mouth,  NEVER AGAIN will I use this product.  After rinsing my mouth out over and over and over I found some of my gum missing around by molers.

I've been using my partners Sensodyne for a few weeks, my bottom gums are in so much pain I can hardly brush, drink, or eat. Started on the left side, I didn't think much of it at first but now it has spread molar to molar and the pain worsens by the day.

  • Some time after using synsodyne…

Some time after using synsodyne mint toothpaste (approx. 2 weeks) I developed swollen lips. I thought that I had eaten something that I was alergic to. This condition existed for a  couple of weeks while trying to figure out what I might have eaten that caused my lips to swell. Since I only brush my teeth in the evening, and my lips were more swollen in the morning, I  stopped brushing my teeth with synsodyn mint and bushed only with water. My lips slowly returned to normal.

  • I have been using sensodyne…

I have been using sensodyne toothpaste for many years, but after trying the whitening toothpaste and about a half hour later after brushing , I pulled a thin layer of skin from the inside of my mouth..........anybody else have this reaction?

  • I also got several cankor…

I also got several cankor sores in my inner mouth and the bottom part of my tongue.  When I eat or drink something cold or hot or spicy, the pain is overwhelming.  My inner lip skin in my mouth feel very dry and sometimes it is hard to speak unless I moisture my lips with balm and/or drink water.  I lost the moisture in and around my inner lip and cheeks. This is crazy.

  • After using Sensodyne and…

After using Sensodyne and after using for a couple of weeks the skin in my inner mouth started peeling and the tip of my tongue got a raw feeling.  I stopped using the Sensodyne and the rawness has been getting less and less on my tongue, however my inner lip of my mouth feels weird, like the skin peeled off.  It is now about two weeks since I stopped using Sensodyne and my tongues rawness is almost gone but my inner lip skin is still peeled.  I will never, ever use this product again....and will tell all my friends and family not to use it.  I think I am going to need medical care for this side effect.

  • Day One: Bought Sensodyne…

Day One: Bought Sensodyne hoping it would whiten my teeth
Day Two: Woke Up took out the great minty toothpaste. Began brushing my teeth hoping it would kill the bacterias instead my gums began bleeding severely. I then had mental illness and became paranoid.

Stupid me, I used it again this morning... My gums have been bleeding all morning long and im still in so much pain. • It's very interesting to…

It's very interesting to me when I start putting together symptoms after using Sendodyne whitening toothpaste.. I stopped using it for several weeks and started feeling better -but recently picked it up at the store again and noticed skin peeling in my inner mouth, gums bleed easily and I know this sounds crazy - but I think it also impacts the endrocrine system..  ( hormones) .. and I have noticed associated issues with this - that worsened once I started using this product.  I will stop immediately!!

I really do not recommend this product to anyone!

  • i started using Sensodyne…

i started using Sensodyne from last week. today morning after i had brush my teeth, my right jaw/ back tooth are paining like hell. am not able concentrate on my work whole day. i guessed it would be the tooth paste am using [sensodyne] is the culprit.

  • ive been using it for about…

ive been using it for about 2 months and have noticed over the last 3-4 weeks that my gums are very tender. i have continuted to use it thinking that it would help my gums, but now im beginning to think that it is causing the problems. Anyone else experiencing the same?

  • After a couple of weeks using…

After a couple of weeks using Sensodyne Pronamel my mouth, gums, and tongue felt swollen and irratated. At times pain radiated down my jaw and up into my ear. I haven't used the toothpaste for more than a week now, but the symptoms have lessened only slightly.

  • I have been using Sensodyne…

I have been using Sensodyne for 2 months now.  FOr the past 10 days I have noticed that my chin was getting numb, then my bottom gums and teeth- the same experience one would have after getting novacaine from a dentist.  At first, I thought that maybe I had a mild stroke or a pinched nerved in the face.  Then it hit me:  it has to be the toothpaste.  I have thrown it out and will go back to a regular one.  I only bought S. since I was bleaching my teeth and thought it will help with the sensitivity associated with that, but this is alarming - to not feel part of your lower face!!

  • I Love Sensodyne toothpaste,…

I Love Sensodyne toothpaste, it not only makes my mouth clean and fresh It helps every time I have a sore throat I figured if it is used for sensitive gums my throat is also sensitive it is a matter of minutes and my throat is better. In the same vain I have used it for achne, misquito bites, bee stings, posion Ivy, and discovered when just recently I looked at my shower door and thought what will take this plaque (soap scum) off of this glass? Light bulb moment lead me to Sensodyne the dab of paste swirled around and wiped off took the tough scum right off Thanks Sensodyne

  • I am a long term user of…

I am a long term user of Sensodyne.  Over the past 8 months I have experienced a progressive slur in my speech patterns; almost as though I have a swollen tongue. It is becoming a concern and will discontinue product use with the hope that my speech will clear up.  Has anyone had similar experience with long term use?

  • Using Sensodyne Extra Whitening…

Using Sensodyne Extra Whitening for nerve tenderness after filling. Experience two weeks of skipped heartbeats and rapid heartbeats - mainly episodes of skipping heartbeats. Cardiologist could find nothing wrong. Stopped using Sensodyne and symptoms dissapeared two days later.

  • i have been using sensodyne…

i have been using sensodyne toothpaste for a few months and i seem to be having a slight problem with my throat. it feels a bit sore and scratchy and at times a bit weak when i sing. this may have nothing to with the toothpaste but before i started using the product my throat was fine. oh, and it's still a new adventure in pain when i eat my favorite food, ice cream.

  • I switched from Colgate Cavity…

I switched from Colgate Cavity Protection to Sensodyne-F and after every use, my skin (where the toothpaste managed to touch) becomes red and swells up. It takes hours to fade away. I finally decided to stop using it after toothpaste dripped down my arm (yes, I can be messy), leaving a swollen streak all the way down to my elbow, with red patches in the surrounding area. Worse, after 2 weeks my teeth are still just as sensitive now, if not more. I can't believe I even put this stuff in my mouth. Research shows that Fluoride is a silent killer (bone cancer, sterility, etc.), but whatever else they put in Sensodyne isn't as silent.

  • The first time I had a skin…

The first time I had a skin reaction to the overspill from brushing around my mouth. After 3 days, I made sure to be neater and this morning my gums were very sore and red on one side. I read the ingredients and saw that it has sulfate in it and I am very allergic to sulfur. The one I have been using was store bought and is a green paste. The one I got from the dentist and have never reacted to before is white. Also the white one I only use intermitently but the first time I used the green version I had a reaction.

Yes, I do not recall seeing any package insert listing possible side effects from this toothpaste! This is RIDICULOUS!

  • I just had the worst week…

I just had the worst week of my life! I started using sensodyne toothpaste about two weeks ago. This past week I expierenced severe diziness, lightheadness, blurred vision, anxiety like hell, and numbness in face like i had been given novicane and numbness in hands. I was seen by two urgent care doctors and then finally went to ER. I had CT scan of my head EKG Blood test all completed to make sure there wasnt something serious. All test came back ok so I looked from my diet to cosmetics and was trying to figure out what i was doing different. I stopped using Sensodyne and symptoms cleared within two days. I never would thought toothpaste could have done this but got to this site and saw that it can. I am posting so someone else that may expierence something like this can see this toothpaste can cause this. I felt mentally unstable and abnormal. There is something in this product that didnt settle well with me and most probably causing harm to the ones using it and not seeing any side effects. I am going to back to my safe Crest!I

Skin peeling off inside of mouth after using sensodyne toothpaste

  • I just visited the dentist…

I just visited the dentist and was given this toothpaste. I have been using it for three days now, I have never had sensitive teeth and now even breathing in and the cold air going threw my teeth causes serious pain. Cold drinks or even cool drinks feel like I am drinking glass. I will no longer use this product. Do not use this product, there is something wrong with it.

  • I thought I had just gotten…

I thought I had just gotten a case of cold sores/chapped lips. Just thought about it and that I had just bought the 'new' iso-sensodyne/whitening. Will quit using to see if this is the problem...after seeing other side effects listed here...I can only assume what I'm thinking is correct.

  • I bought a travel size tube…

I bought a travel size tube of Sensodyne-F Whitening and used it at my hotel before heading out. Within 2 minutes I felt abnormal. My asthma kicked in, anxiety, dizziness, and to an extent panic. I looked up the ingredients and came across this website. I usually use Sensodyne Pronamel at home and now wonder if this has been a contributing factor to the change in my health over the last few years. An interesting note, I bought my daughter a tube of Sensodyne for children at Christmas. She has been hyperactive ever since. We will no longer use these products, and see if our symptoms subside.

  • I experienced severe dry…

I experienced severe dry skin around my mouth, shortness of breath and severe wheezing for about a year. I went to my physician who referred me to an allergist who, after a full set of allergy testing, determined I was only mildly allergic to my dog. After several more months of wheezing and shortness of breath, I started considering giving my dog away. I would go to bed every night and wheeze for at least an hour, concerned if I fell asleep I would stop breathing altogether. I started sleeping with my emergency inhaler by my bed. While traveling, I happened to come across an article in a magazine about a possible reaction to Sensodyne. It got me thinking - ever since I got Invisalign (about a year ago) I started using Sensodyne. After I came home from that trip I stopped using Sensodyne and almost immediately I recovered from my symptoms. I have played with my dog more since having stopped Sensodyne (to prove it's not a reaction to the dog) and I haven't wheezed or had shortness of breath since stopping Sensodyne use. I can even run up the stairs and not gasp for air.

Sensodyne should be required by the FDA to disclose these side-effects on the product.
