I have been on Singulair 10mg for 8 weeks and I've experienced many side effects which include anger, aggression, mood swings, loss of appetite, weight gain, headache, nausea, loss of energy. This was taken to fix my eustacian tube dysfunction caused by allergies and it seems that the side effects are worse than the ear pain.  The medicine doesn't seem to be helping the ear pain that much either.

Hi Ann, I am also looking for an alternative medication.  My daughter is 3 years old and has been on the medication for 8 months.  He doesnt sleep at night, has nightmares, night tremors and has become very agressive.

My 12-year old son has been on singulair for over a year for asthma and has just recently been show signs of anger, outburst, loss of appetite, and cramping in the heels of his feet.  I have been reading about the side effects of singulair and am afraid that this might be what is causing these mood swings.  Do you know of anything else to take in its place?  Is it safe to just stop taking the medication?

AFTER ALMOST TWO HOURS OF MY FIRST DOSE OF SINGULAIR I EXPERIENCED A LOT OF ANXIETY AND BRADICARDIA ( 49 x MIN ) . I NEVER TRIED AGAIN THIS MEDICINE.

My daughter, now 6, has been on singulair since she was like a year old. She has always seemed sad and worried about everything and at times had the "glazed over look". Her father and I divorced when she was very young and it was not the nicest divorce. We always chalked up her "issues" with the divorce and spent lots of money on therapists who couldn't find anything wrong or abnormal. Recently, we uped her dosage due to her age and her asthma still not being under control. She startd having some even crazier behavior problems! She was more angry and at times, out of control. She was anxious all the time to the point the school called to talk about it. She seemed more sad than usual and sometimes out of it! She complained of a tummy ache all the time. She was just a different kid, worse than what we had grown "accustomed to". I heard a story on TV about Singulair and the side effects. I started doing research on it and immediately called the specialist who told me to stop giving it to her. We stopped last Thursday and even in a weeks time noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in her. I can not imagine how she will feel when all that poison is finally out of her little body! I am disgusted that this medicene is still on the market when it is causing so many problems with our little, innocent kiddos. I can't imagine what my daughter endured in the 5 years that she was on Singulair. I was NEVER told about any side effects and was never given any other option to treat her asthma except her inhaler, a neb and the Singulair. This medicine should be taken off the market and NOT given to our children...

I've been on singular for two months and it is not for me.  Mood swings, depressed feelings, lack of sleep. These side effects are not giving up.  I am not myself.

I started taking Singulair almost 3 months ago. My Dr. was concerned w/ my frequent bouts of respiratory problems. The side effects subtly started about 2 months ago. Deep depression..restless sleeping..scattered bady pain..always tired and a total lack of happiness or caring about anything. I could cry at the drop of a hat. I could go on and on but you get the picture. This is NOT ME. Friends and family are concerned. I've stopped this med. today and I'm calling my Dr. tomorrow. How can this product still be on the market?  Mary

My 10 year old son has been on Singulair for 6 weeks.  He has had crying episodes, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, wanted to quit school (He has always liked school), sleep problems, aggression, depression.  After reading other's stories, I took him off it yesterday.  His doctor says these side effects are rare, but according to what I've read, they sound pretty common.

I have been on Singulair off and on for at least 5 years, and have experienced abnormal amounts of angry outbursts, and feelings of rage that are not like me at all. Has anyone else had this?

Fatigue, weight gain, and mild to moderate depression.  Definitely not worth the side effects for me.
