Female, age 40, very muscular,…
Female, age 40, very muscular, fit. Was given succinylcholine in my anesthetic. This drug used regularly during outpatient surgeries. Woke up 2 hours after surgery, gasping for air. Very quick shallow breathing for next 24 hours after surgery. Also could not lift my legs, neck, or arms. Extreme muscle pain for 4 days after surgery. It's been 7 days. Pain in neck, legs and left arm is gone. My right arm still has muscle soreness but not extreme, but definately uncomfortable. Hoping this will go away soon.
Have had one prior surgery 8 mths before, no problems. Don't know if I received this drug. I would suggest putting this drug down as an allergy before surgery, even if you don't know, because the extreme muscle soreness is unbearable. Dont take the chance. -
Female. age 20. Gall…
Female. age 20. Gall bladder did not contract and wasn't working as it should, so during surgery succinylcholine was give for intabation. Side affects cause body muscles to paralysis for 5-6 hours after surgery was completed. Another drug was given after doctor understood there was a side affect to succinylcholine but it is unknown of that drug or does. Doctor said if give succinylcholine again muscles would be premently paralysis or worse death.
