I started taking symbicort and in less than a week. I hadb severe knee and lower leg pain.

i have been on symbicort for almost a year.... my hair is falling out and i itch all over my body..... living on benedryl...... not controling asthma either....

I started using Symbicort, just at night, a couple weeks ago. I started having muscle cramps all over my body, my stomach is always upset, dizzy spells, more congestion, a really bad taste in my mouth, thrush (even though I rinse thoroughly every time I use this meds) and a few days ago, my legs, ankles and feet swelled, really bad. I didn't think about the Symbicort in relation to my problems, until I used it during the day too and my syptoms got worse. I am now also very itchy. I will not be using Symbicort anymore!

I was juat given symbicort today by my Dr for my asthma but i am leary about taking it brcouse I have a liver problem and I dont need it to get worse I can live with the asthma I have for over 50 yrs without meds.

I use symbicort for copd. I had some severe headaches and initially mild anxiety that kept increasing . When my dosage was increased to two puffs twice a day my agitation and anxiety really ramped up. After two weeks the anxiety became so intense that I had 2 suicide attempts in one day. Stopped the medication and in 24 hours I was completely back to normal. What a scary experience.I am 60 and have never had anything like this happen before.

I was using my fast acting inhaler (Ventolin changed to Proventil to save the ozone layer - sarcasm noted) at least 3 times a day...everyday...for many years.  I thought using this amount was normal.  No doctor ever asked me how much I was using...and because they were prescribing the inhalers...I thought nothing of it. 

My insurance company had a nurse call me about asthma management.  She told me that my asthma was not under control and that I should only be using the fast acting inhaler a couple times a month at most.  The nurse suggested I ask my doctor about a long-term asthma control medication.

My doctor prescribe Symbicort.  I have been taking it for almost 3 months now.  Initially I had a lot of throat irritation but that went away after several weeks of use.  I also had...and continue to have at times....muscle pain in my back and shoulders.  Two weeks ago I started to develop small blisters under the skin on my palms and fingers.  These blisters itch and burn like crazy.  I am not sure if this is an unrelated allergic reaction to something or if it is caused by the Symbicort.  I am allergic to many different medications (Penicillin, sulfa meds, fungal meds, etc) but generally when I have an allergic reaction to a medication, I get a rash on my entire body (except the face) that burns, is itchy and peels.  I am not having this full body rash right now...so I do not know what to think. 

I hope it is not caused by my use of Symbicort.  This drug has been a life saver to me.  I rarely require my fast acting inhaler anymore and I have never breathed better in years.  I am crossing my fingers...well...the ones that do not have blisters on them...lol 

I have been taking symbicort for 2 years. Just 1 inhalation a day - I find when I have to increase the dose when allergies are worse my back (I do already have bulging discs) becomes painfully irritated. I know Symbicort works really well for my asthma but at higher doses it is not worth the pain. When I read Andrew's need for a higher and higher dose it reminded me of how ventolin is. There seems to be a point where a higher dose of these "stimulants" is not good for the rest of the body. It would be so good if the world had no smoke, the general population did not worship purfume, - how on God's earth people developed serious allergies to animals, mold and pollen is beyond me!! Nice to hear your experiences - My doctor has not heard of anyone getting stiffness from Symbicort but I knew it could! we are dealing with Stimulants. Symbicort sure works better than that puffer corticosteroid with ventolin!!  

I have also lost ability to sing, now losing ability to talk.  Stopped the symbicort and within 2 days voice began improving, but lungs were hurts badly, so am back on the symbicort, minimal dosage I can get by with.

Ater taking symbicort puffer for 2 weeks - I felt tightness around my throat. Constant choking feeling and difficulty swallowing.  I feel there are pestules in my throat.  Can't lie down due to difficulty in breathing.

I used to be on Flixotide and Ventolin for my athma but have been changed to symbicort, spiriva and ventolin. I now have have severe left sided hip pain and numbness and severe cramps in my left leg and foot. I have also noticed sinus like blocking of my left nostril and frontal painful pressure over sinuses head and eyes and even my ears feel blocked and sometimes sounds are distorted

since taking symbicort for 1 month i have lost all stamina and have muscle cramping in both legs. this drug leaves me feeling exhausted,unhappy and feeling run down. i shall be coming off this asap.

No, I have had exactly the same experience!

My vocal cords are completely affected by only one puff a day of 160Mg. I can't sing any more, no one can hear me in a conversation, and it's like my voice doesn't carry anymore. It's absolutely ridiculous. Then I noticed my lower partial which was attached to a "Hader Bar" became so sore that I literally couldn't chew any more. I stopped taking a puff a day for about two and a half weeks until this morning when I noticed a slight wheeze when I woke up and took a puff, but up until that, my teeth issues has completely gone away.
So, I'm just connecting the dots here, I'm just sayin'.

Am I the only one on this experience?

I met someone who has the same symptons as myself (itchy spots all over my body) but she was not taking Symbicort but three other different inhalers.  Does anyone else suffer from this? 

Stop taking the symbicort, the pain will lessen considerably.  Did for me.

I sleep on my side with my head and shoulders propped up higher.  Since I have been using Symbicort, my lower back, hips and legs started hurting.  I have been sleeping on pillows on top of the bed, but could hardly get out of bed in the morning.  My hips hurt so much I couldn't sleep more than a couple of hours at a time and constantly turning to relieve the pain.  I quit using the Symbicort and am having amazing relief!  My bones don't hurt much anymore and getting better all the time.  I thought I just had arthritis.

I was diagnosed with asthma about 2 months ago.  Tried different inhailers.  Nothing worked very well.  I was put on symbicort and I got relief from the tightness in my chest and the shortness of breath. About 4 to 5 days after using symbicort I started experiencing severe headaches and I had very bad nausea and vomiting.  They were so bad they sent me to bed. A doctor who was covering for my doctor who was out of town did not think the symbicort was causing the headaches. He said he did not know that symbicort would cause headaches.  Even I read that on line to know that was one of the side effects.Also my blood pressure is up.  Another side effect.  I quit using it two dosages ago and I am already experiencing less headaches.  So it tells me if my headaches are less it has to be the symbicrot.  I won't continue to use it.

stop the inhaler and ask you doctor to prescribe 8mg codiene/500mg paracetamol this has helped me with similar problem after 12 years suffering-- go for it

stop symbicort as your doctor to put you on low dosage co-codamol 8mg codene 500 mg paracetomal. after 12 years of coughing it is now brilliant to be free of a cough. best of luck--- ron

I was diagnosed with Asthma last week and was put on Symbicort and I have had an asthma attack each time I've used it plus I have a sinus infection and when I use the Symbicort it closed my nose up and my hand has started to tremor and I can't sleep.  Needless to say I will no longer take this medication as I was doing better before I started it.

I have been using symbicort for many years now and have pretty constant pain in most of my joints. 

Having some throat irritation and voice affected after using Symbicort for one week.  Concerned because I make my living as a singer!  I know others have had similiar side effects.  My SPECIFIC question is does this tend to last as long as you use Symbicort...or does it tend to go away after awhile.   I'm in a real bind here if it's the former...and there are no acceptable alternatives.    

I was prescribed symbicourt, i didnt want it but they told me they wouldnt operate on my shoulder unless i took this and gave a better reading on the blow test. I told them my breathing difficulties werew dua to a stomach peoblem,i was bloating so mush i could feel the pressure on my heart and lungs, i just couldnt get a full breath there was no room. Now my joints are ruined.My fingers hurt, my achilles tendons hurt like hell,the back of my leg where it joins the buttock and my hips elbows and knees felt like they had ground glass in them,now they just ache all the time. I uses Symbicort on two different occasions.  I was having trouble breathing and my doctor said it was asthma.  While using Symbicort, I had the most sever asthma attacks and had to go to the emergency room three times.  My doctor never heard of such a reaction to this drug.

Have been on Symbicort for about two weeks now.  Have developed a difficultly swallowing (it is difficult and and painful) in the past few days.  Can this be related?

it helps me breath better,but i still have the cough, what can i do cough medicine with codenemade me go to the hospital why?

Skip you need to talk to your doctor and have them do a potassium level test on you as this medicine also will lower your potassium sometimes so much it can be fatal.

I started taking symbicort in december after being really sick with a upper respiratory infection and I have gained 27 pounds, I have decided to get the heck off of this drug as I originaly weighed 117 now I am up to 139 and keep on gaining the weight. I am going to talk to my doctor about switching me to something that won't make me gain weight. About the younger boy who is on this, you need to get your son off from this medicine as this is not intended for younger people, it will cause overwhelming depression in kids and might cause him to do something drastic to himself.  I have noticed that alot of people get depression off from this medicine, and also this medicine will lower your immunity to 0 percent so you will be subjected to getting really sick faster. It also will cause bone density and charlie horses not to mention fungal infection and thrush in the mouth if you don't rinse your mouth out right after taking your inhaler. Just figured I would post this. I did tried advair and it put me in the hospital I almost died from that drug so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

My son has been on the symbicort inhaler for 2 weeks and the moods changes are severe.
He smashed the mirror in his room the other night and then said he wanted to die.
I punished him with chores and he lost things like tv......and now I am researching this and he just could not help himself.....I am so mad....
I discussed in the past with my doctor that I did not want him on singilar because it made his moods to severe....I did not realize that this stupid inhaler is the same as Singilair :(

I have been on Symbicort for approximately three months now. I have suddenly started to feel something like charlie horses in my legs, and bone pain in my left and right shoulders that radiate down to my fingers which make them feel cold. I have not taken the Symbicort for 1 whole day now and I feel terrible. Could you please shed some light on my feelings? *DONT_KNOW*

My mom who is 81 has been taking symbicort for 6 months and also spyriva for 4 months in the last 4 months she has fallen and broken her femur, gotten 3 compression fractures in her back and we now are going to get exrays to see if yet another vertabre has a compression fracture, after reading a ton of sites I think it is an effect of these med's!
