Hej Keith,
Am a runner to, and on Tambo. Not realyl sure how it has affected me since I was on betablocks before. I am 51 years old and have been running for 20+ years. can still do quite well but uncertain about what my maxpulse and working pulse realyl is.
I get some AF now and then - but was completely symptom free after getting Tambocor in March. It would be interesting to understand how you have bene doing with running and Tambocor -

i started with 50 mg back…
i started with 50 mg back in jan 2008 and that seemed to keep what was then a once a month sometimes less event of AF the AF seemed to groing quite regular and so i reluctantly moved to 100 then during 2010 it was at 200mg. now in 2010 it get the AF almost every day i am on 200mg morning 200mg night fortified with lanoxin one in the evening. i feel horrible and i dont know why anyone should be allowed to drive while taking up to 200mg to 300mg (which i started in Sept 2010). diziness, imbalace, energy loss, as i type this message even with all i have taken to my doctors orders i sit here typing this note having experienec AF now for 2 days. so in 3 yrs have moved the AF has gotten much worse. some days when it kicks in it starts at 180 pulse and then after a time it gets back to 100 or so. my usual resting rate is 55. i am 54 train at gym am not overweight. i will say that since sept 2010 i have added 7 kilos. but im not sure if that is just a slow down in training because of weakness and fatigue.

I still run competitive cross…
I still run competitive cross country at 61 years of age on a low dosage of 50m per day for AF. The drug does slow my running down, so with specialist permission, I try to strike a balance... maybe miss a day or two to reduce the "blocking" effect. Because I weigh only 63kg, I am able to directly monitor my heartbeat and can detect any arrythmia or AF. To prepare for a race, I reduced my medication to 25m but after a few days the AF was severe. I ran but was forced to stop on Saturday but the condition corrected itself overnight and I was able to run, and win, on the Sunday. Thereafter I suffered a week of AF, but on specialist advice I increased the dosage to 100m. After two days, normal function returned. This kind of experimentation is clearly not for everyone. I will soon return to 50m and again juggle the dosage to help my running, but there are risks. I am increasingly learning more about the drug and pleased that this latest correction was swift and effective.
