  • I have used many medicines,…

I have used many medicines, all of which exhibited side effects, including tremendous weight gain. Vyvance has exceeded my expectations, on the positive side. No gain weight, I do not get jittery or jumpy, yet it keeps me alert and awake throughout the day. It has also given
me the feeling of keeping focused and energetic, without insomnia.

So far, GREAT. Yet, I have also read that this medicine could possibly be habit forming, and after months or years of using it, it could stop working. This is what I fear the most, at this point. Has anyone else experienced any of the two?

    Many thanks,
    cityoflights

  • I am a 64-year old female…

I am a 64-year old female with mild hyperthyroidism (Hashimoto's Disease). I take Tapazole (1/2 of a 5mg Tab daily). My internist, endocrinologist and cardiologist have said the hyperthyroidism probably causes my mild blood pressure and heart rate problems. I take one Benazepril (10mg Tab daily) and one Atenolol (25mg Tab daily).

My psychiatrist is aware of my health issues BUT has prescribed one Vyvance (20 mg Tab daily) for chronic Adult ADD symptoms.

Vyvance has been a miracle drug for me. I feel calm, productive, focused, content, happy - wonderfully normal BUT my blood pressure and heart rate are slightly elevated.

The literature from the pharmacy says Vyvance should not be prescribed for heart/thyroid patients. My psychiatrist distinctly said Vyvance was better for heart patients than Adderal so I have to believe she is aware of my other drugs, etc.

I do not want to stop taking Vyvance - I think it will break my heart if I have to give it up BUT I don't want to foolishly risk a heart attack.

In spite of the Vyvanse literature, is it safe for someone like me to take the drug?
