I've been on Zeldox for 9 months and about a month ago I started get severe panic attacks for no reason that I could see - I'll be seeing my Doctor in January and I think I'll ask him to get off it.

Anxiety and panic attacks are so bad I don't want to see anyone - just staying home - This is unbearable.

I've been taking zeldox for about a month now, so it might be a little early for me to be experiencing some of the more severe side effects that a number of others have posted. In the first month the only real issue I've been having is with insomnia. I had been on Quetiapine prior, but I gained so much wake (freudian slip) "weight" and it made me zombie-like. I had absolutely no desire to get out of bed and even had a difficult time getting out of bed when I really wanted to. However, with Zeldox I have difficulty just getting a moments rest as I am constantly wanting to get things done or I simply cannot sleep. The doctor has given me Lorazepam as a sleep aid because I refuse to take the Quetiapine anymore, but last night I took my Lorazepam and I still was only able to sleep for four hours. I do hope to avoid some of the more negative side effects that people have been talking about and I fear the doctor upping my dose as I am currently on 40mg twice daily and worry about the negative effects an increase could have. In the mean time I'm enjoying having more energy to do things, but I don't see how this Sea-saw action of sleeping and not sleeping is beneficial. I've pretty much gone from one extreme to the other.

I've been getting severe anxiety attacks after being on Zeldox. Anybody witnessing this, too?

I've been on Zeldox for over a month now and at first, it was working great. My moods were leveled and I was feeling pretty good and energized but because I'm dealing with a LOT in life right now and things aren't going well at all, I suddenly became suicidal and started having pain in my chest from the anxiety. I fell into a depression that I'm still fighting. Well the doctors put me on zoloft to help with the depression and anxiety so the pain in my chest started burning like there's fire inside me and the anxiety attacks seem to have gotten worse. The depression is better but still there. I've only been on the zoloft a few days so far. I was taken to the hospital last night for the chest pains and everything checked out ok. There was no heart problems. I'm just curious if anyone else is having or have had issues with Zeldox causing such severe anxiety before?

I look at these meds and their side effects like being on chemotheropy...You get the nausea,vomiting,diarea,dizzy spells and the fainting...and yes you feel like shit...what choice do we have ??? we have to try something...hopefully this will be the magic bullet,but if not there is something else out there...no free ride in life ( THIS IS HARD).So lets cry out of frustration...not everythng is medication related some of it is our own emotions...I have been on zeldox now for about 3 weelks..i was on seroquel the time before this and gained alot of weight...i am hypromanic right now and not sure if it's from the meds...who knows i do have this bipolar disease so i am relating it to that..I can't be thinking to much about side effects of medications orelse i run out of options...So at the moment like every other ill person in the world i am going through some unpleasant effects thet i hope go away and i become WELL !!!!

i am taking it with parnate. i feel tired and sleepy all the time. also noticed a craving for sweets so some weight gain. nothing positive.....e

nOTHING GOOD HAS COME FROM MY TAKING zALDOX -- i HAVE been on it for over 6 months and I have fainted, threw-up, felt anxious, developed tardif dyskenesia, cry for no reason...I have no idea which other meds to take ...

I had a massive reaction to the Zeldox medication I actually had a Dystonia which I nearly choked from not breathing and that was last Saturday, pretty bad shit, and I wish for you individuals to be a bit nicer, there's no need to be mean to anyone.

it's always a pleasure to bitch about medication. It helps but it's expensive, sometimes I think it's too strong too. It depends on how much youre taking...I take 200mg of Zeldox..

Hello, I am updating my review. Ive been on Zeldox for two months now and I prefer it much more than Zyprexa. I'm less tired and zombie, I feel like my psychosis is behind. I no more think people were trying to kill me, I just feel better. Thank you Zeldox..

hello im taking 80mg zeldox in the evening and lithium recently i have trouble speaking and when i do speak its like a child im very aggresive and confused can anyone help :-[

4 showers a day is not good for your skin or health, only shower once a day or twice if you really need to.

A good medication for anxiety is xanax. It works on you're brain and not so much on you're body. ;)

I read all the comments and I feel like you peoples are all a bunch of cry-baby... No medication is perfect, and you seem to think the pharmaceutical companies owe you something... Trying more than one medication is normal in case of psychosis, schizophrenia and biolar disorder... Antipsychotic medication are far from perfect but be grateful to not be locked up in a asylum for the rest of your lives of lobotomized like in the old days... *DONT_KNOW*

I take 200mg daily ! I was smoking pot before and had toxic psychosis. I was believing my neighboors were trying to help me. I was on Zyprexa 15mg daily before and hated it (weight gain, tired, drowsiness). Now I'm on that s**t 200mg daily and I just don't feel like myself. Antipsychotics are very strange medicine, sometimes I just feel soooooo tired, I can't even work, I've tried two times to work and was doing nothing at the job. I feel I'm looser partly because I'm taking this. It's no fun, my legs are always shaking and my anxiety is worst than on zyprexa..the only reason why they put me on this one was to stop the weight gain. I'm not psychotic person, just had delusion , paranoia while on pot... 200mg (2x80mg + 40mg) = no fun!

Yeah I definitely had that side-effect when taking the drug. Usually happened 1-2 hours after taking one of my two 60mg daily doses, and was worse if I felt somewhat unsettled or stressed before taking it.

Ever since I've been on Zeldox, I've been doing absolutely nothing. That seems to be the problem. I have been taking 4 showers a day to pass the time and I can't seem to get myself to do anything. Can anybody help?

i take 80 mg of zeldox 2 times a day. i have these episodes where i am so tired it feels like i am about to fall asleep. it's like when you're driving a car and can't stay awake. does anyone else get this? they are much better now, but still scary

 Thankyou for witing out this article I have been on 120mgs of Zeldox since November 2010 at first it seemed to work and now it has me stuck in a depression state . I was prior to that on olanzapine which held me also in a depressed state I have been diagnosed as Bipolar so  with the zeldox take apo  diavlproex   as well as clonazepan.My doctor said I would be on this medication forever yet I am willing to cut back on the zeldox to see if I feel better afterall the Doctor is not me and just doesn't seem to listen.I appreciate everyones input on this medication Thankyou!

I am sorry you have had such a bad experience with this medication. I was on Olanzapine and I had weight gain but no anxiety and my mood was great on it. Have you tried this medication?

I am so anxious all the time. I am pacing back and forth my legs and hands are constantly moving, my body feels lime it needs to be somewhere, it is strange. Is there a medication that can be taken in combination to help with the anxiety? I have also gained 20 pounds in 6 weeks!

I hate Zeldox but it does make me more stable.

Due to my high demanding work just spoke with my doctor about some anxiety and some obsessive thoughts. He gave me ZELDOX 40 mg just to control my anxiety. I am a male with 38 years old. I started my medication on 29 November 2010 . At first it seemed very good. I felt calm, energy and live was flowing. 4 days ago i felt an increase of the anxiety level without reason and sometimes with a feeling of a pressure on the chest.i get cold sweats, high anxiety and start to have some confusional thoughts . I had some panic attacks that i never have had in my life. I think that ZELDOX is affecting me. I have  completely stopped the pill this night and sent an email to my doctor telling him about these side effects. For sure, ZELDOX no more!

My mother just started Zeldox last Tueday (5 days ago). Within two days, she was taken by ambulance to hospital - it appeared she was seizuring. She is now on Day 4 in ICU. The working diagnosis is that she is suffering neuroleptic malignant disorder. In everyday language, it's basically one of the most severe reactions that anyone can have to an antipsychotic medication. I would caution anyone who starts the medication that they should not be alone for at least a week or two. My mother lives alone, but I insisted she stay with me when she started this. Thank God. I don't know what would have happened to her if she was in her apartment alone. She finally woke up last night after being basically comatose since arriving at the hospital. She is now responding to directions and is talking a bit now the tubes have been removed.

Tell your loved ones that they need to look out for the following signs in the first few days (this is not a complete list) severe change in behaviour (more manic and aggressive), confusion, tremors, rigidity in body, dehydration. If this happens, get to hospital immediately.

I first went on Zeldox about a year ago, taking 40mg. At first it seemed really good. It seemed to clear my head and made me more sociable. However, I did find I was more involved in inner fantasy live, so much so that I was once on the bed hyperventilating I was so involved in this inner fantasy. I have never done that before. About 8 months into treatment I began to walk abnomally. I was not in Pain and I had not injured myself. I did not think to bring it up with my Psychriatrist. But know I have done some reading and I believe it is tardive dyskininia, I also have a protrotuting tonque.  I have also read  and head it is not to be taking with other meds that cause "QT prolongation" ( a indicator of heart function. I also take effexor, which causes that. When I first went on Zeldox the pharamist wouldn't give it to me until he checked with the doctor, he said the two were not supposed to be taken together. But my doctor poo pooed that and said it was ok. Now for the past 4 months I have on several occassions experienced a short stabbing pain in my heart that last 5 to 10 minutes and sometimes a feeling a pressure on the chest, like someone is standing on my chest. Something is wrong with my heart. I'm going to see my GP in a few days.  Also, in the last month my mind has been increasing " crazy" I could not control my thoughts, they were all mixed up. I could barely function. I had a hunch it was the Zeldox having a parodoxical effect, so I dropped on pill. The next morning my head had cleared and I felt normal. That was three weeks ago and I have not felt crazy since then. I have  completely stopped the pill last night. I still walk gympy. I also noticed on the Zeldox I didn't really want to do anything, just come home from work and lay on the couch.

I m at begining on zeldox tretment,i feel very energietic ,i get aslep very later ,in the morning i m tired and hard to do my work at office.i have 29 years old and it s very hard for me to confrunt with this treatment for a simple diagnostic like depresion and anxieti.my social life is defectouse becasue i m takeing pils and i do not want like my frinds konw that.i m to young to confrunt weith all this drogs,pils because i feel that i m not myself under this tretment.Hellp!i want to stop the tretmwnt very quiqly but i m afraid that i will get sick againe what to do?i make terapie with my doctor but seem that i m ok .Somethimes at office i cnnot kep my eyes open to read ian d need to get rest ...i cnnot stay at home alone ..all the days it s very hard.it s boring for me to slepp so much because of the pils.O my sexual life is very godd steel,but at the frist days of tretment i wasnt feel anething.Please give me an ideea what to do?

Coming off of Zeldox after 6 months. First you will need plenty of Valium, strong pain killers and water. As you who are on zeldox will know what it feels like coming up to your next dose, well multiply that by 10 and you get the picture. For those who don't know. You will shake uncontrollably, Sweat and get the occasional brain electricution feelings, nausia and can't think properly and no sleep. I am serious this is hard. I had to get off Zeldox quickly as it was affecting my work and daily functioning. What happens is when you're no longer pyhsicotic your body will reject the drug. This is a good thing but it will affect your ability to perform your daily duties. Also is good to let people know you are comming off the drug just in case something bad happns. Good luck :)

I was on resperidone 4mg as well as Seriquel 600mg and i gained about 60 pounds on them so i stopped them as well and ended up in the hospital and they started me on the zeldox. Its helping my schizophrenia but its making me exhausted and not sleep at night

I was on Zyprexa 5 years ago, and gained 60lbs over a 2 years 3 year period. I decided to go off them all together and then had a bad episode and went back into the hospital and the doctors put me on Lithium 600mg wich I think has caused a rash like Exema on my hands and cold spots around my ankles. not positive but I think so anyways, and risperidone 4mg which stopped my monthly for a year and then they and took me off it and put me on SEROQUEL XR AND i WAS GAINING MORE WEIGHT . I was out of the hospital for a year and gained another 30lbs so needless to say I went back in the hospital last week and they changed me to ZELDOX ! I started it on tue and now it is tues again and I am feeling very lack of sleep as I woke up at 3am and stayed awake and taking care of my 5 year old son but I am going to take a mild sleeping pill tonight , as well as every time I take it 60mg at breakfast and 60 mg at supper I have very bad nuesea and very dizzy. I sure do hope that these symptoms go away as I want to lose weight so bad, but I am so scared of taking pills, I just hate them they gross me out ! to think of the harm they can do especially over a long time period. Well I guess that is all and I hope the bad side affects go away, let me know if you think I should get off them sooner than later. 

when i first started taking zeldox it made majorly drowzy id drink coffee to balance me out, itchiness, restlessness which was the worse, just couldnt sit still or lie still, sudden ticks and zoned out for 3 hours. the side effects passed after quite a few months. im still on zeldox now and will be for while, besides the side effects its actually not that bad.

I took 1 dose of Zeldox and i won't take any more.  The side effects were horrendous!  The literature refers to these side effects as Extrapyramidal symptoms-twitching, abnormal movements.  Well, I had an extreme version of that.  The crawling sensation in my legs, the pain in my legs and arms, was so bad I had to lock myself in my room so I wouldn't run out in front of a car.  I writhed in bed screaming for 3 hours.  My doctor was unavailable as it was a Friday.  Why was I taking it?  I have bipolar -mixed- and had not slept more than 2 hours in 2 months I was extremely tired all the time.  All other medications had been tried - I was just coming off Valproec Acid - so am taking nothing right now.

I have been taking Zeldox for the past 4 days, switching from Zyprexa because of weight gain. I am in an extreme state of agitation and anxiety with deep negative thoughts. I also take methadone so I can't use any benzos. My doctor is on vacation and I am going nuts. Help anyone ?

I"ve only been taking it for one day so far and I slept a LOT last night!  I've been really tired since taking it...  I'm hoping to lose weight on it too, as my previous meds caused me so much weight gain!  (ie/ zyprexa and risperadol and remeron!)  I'm so glad they finally made meds to treat mental health conditions that do not cause weight gain and increased appetite.  I hope it won't take me too long to lose all the weight I gained on my other meds

I just started zeldox last night.  I took 40mg last night and another 40 mg this morning (I'm supposed to take 80mg total daily).  The only thing I've noticed so far is that I've been really tired and out of it.  I was really spaced out earlier, and felt really sedated.  I slept a lot last night.. over 10 hours which is a lot for me because I normally have really bad insomnia and normally can't sleep without pills.  I was on remeron but that caused me so much weight gain that I stopped it.  My doctor gave me zeldox for my severe anxiety/paranoia and ocd and depression.  I hope it works and that the drowsiness wears off soon.

My daughter had been taking Zeldox last year more than 2 months/aprox.80-120mg a day/-and  her weight decreased from 68kg to 63.before Zeldox she took INVEGA+LYRICA and her weight increased  from 56kg to 68kg.
Side efects-fatigue and sleepines even at day. Now she has been taking ZELDOX only 40mg in the evening/and ABILIFY 15mg in the morning-more than 2weeks-and she has no side effects,only sometimes headache/it causes abilify/.Apologize for my english-I am not english.

I"ve been taking 40mgs for a week, and unlike other comments I have read, I sleep! I do wake up occassionally, but I always have. Have barely used my bowels at all. I have Bipolar, and I have tried many meds but have had to stop as they ruined my life furthur. So far so good for this one....I'm hoping for no weight gain...has anyone encountered this?

My doctor placed me on a mild tranquilizer because of Zeldox.  I have been on 120mg of Zeldox and it works great with my bipolar but the side effects are hell

Hi Michele. I take Lamictal and it can cause sleep disturbance initially, but generally settles down. What worked for me was to start in very small doses, wait til the sleeping settled, then slowly up the dose, making sure to let the sleeping settle again. I take it in the morning as it is quite energising. The Seroquel is what I take at night plus other prescribed medication. What I take would knock out a horse, but sometimes I still have trouble sleeping. One of my best methods for good sleep is to go to bed about an hour before I want to go to sleep and read. This helps quiet me down after a busy day.

I took Zeldox last night for the first time, as I was trying to switch from Seroquel due to weight gain and higher cholesterol. At first I took 1 capsule (40mg), but on discovering that I couldn't sleep, I took the second one. Unbelievable. I have always suffered from sleep disorder and now I was wide awake and my mind was absolutely racing. Somehow I finally fell asleep but not for long. I usually suffer from fatigue but I went over to my daughter-in-law's (she is about to have a baby) and cooked up 6 meals for her. This took about 2 1/2 hours. I then came home exhausted and decided to do a big cook-up here as well. I cooked up another 6 meals. Now I have to stress here that I generally hate cooking.
I forced myself to stop after dinner and watch TV. Went to bed with Seroquel instead. It is now 4 p.m. and I am still wide awake. Have been on the computer, cleaning the kitchen, doing the washing, tried lots of stints in bed doing my usually successful relaxation techniques. Looks like I'm going to enjoy sunrise.
And all from 80mg of Zeldox more than 24 hours ago! Definitely a no-no for insomniacs!

I've been taking Zeldox apporox 2 months.Ihave terribble ainsomnia, which makes it difficult to keep working 12 hour days.If l stop taing ia l have the most horredous feeling of trembling or shaking and just feel like l'm about to explode with anxiety and aggression and aggitation.l hate it.l will drop back from 80mg,to 60,then to 40.Then speak to my Psychiatrist about Lamictal,which can also cause insomnia so l'm told.Lucky me.Not

Since i am taking this medicine i have different side effects but they are to violent and to late appeared to be considered by my doctor side effects.I also have a brain tumor and i don't know if this medicine affected it since it almost dubled itself since i take it. I have allergic reactions,my legs and my arms are getting blocked and are turning themselfs and i can bearly walk,i am dizy, my mouth is moving like crazy and most of all i don't suffer of schizophrenia according to my doctor.I have a brain tumor that affects my temporal lobe and generates hallucinations.What do you think about that? What should i do?

NEW YEARS DAY 2010 -I was hospitalized for general aniety with panic disorder + delusional / catastrophically negative thinking. " my soul hurts " it what I tell doctors and family " I'm not only going to hell but I'm condemned, I'm already there " My mother and Father noticed something the next day when they came to see me - they couldnt believe it 85 % of my anxiety was gone, I was awake and energetic and doing puzzles and making friends and doing laundry and eating- they were astonished. I still hadnt put 2 and 2 together, as being admitted to a mental health ward can in itself be a placebo effect and I can account for that for sure-objectively speaking , but the sleeping pills at night and just ativan were not enough...day 2, day 3 day 4 day 5 , I woke up very angry and disappointed with my psych so I fired him-during morning rounds...then we talked and i wondered why I had a great day on day one and then I started to ' backslide " I could FEEL it, THINK it...how could this be happenning then we traced it back to the nigt i was admitted, I was only given .5 mg of ATIVAN ( big whoop-di-do ) and a sleeping pill ( with no benzo's or SSRI's ) but at 7 am day 2 i had the antipsychotic and at first I was like ' what is this ? I'm not schitzophrenic ! ' asked the male nurse a tone of questions, we went over it all and my attitude was just ' ONE cant hurt " thinking It takes 14 - 21 days like other ' head " pills to kick in, swallowed it and thought nothing of it....then at 9 am....I started to feel kind of hungry...then at noon it increased, so did my mood...then by supper I had comsumed more calories in 1 day than i had in a week So, day 5 or 6 of my hospital stay Jan 7 10 I settled that I would try theis NEW my doctor was especially concerned about my history of eating disorders and the fact I was a personal trainer and used to be a fitness model and body builder, I threw up last night because I ate after I took it not with food ( oops ) and man did I barf, I have experienced nausea, a stoned feeling, sluggish, un coordinated movemnts, chills then heat, NO abnormal heart rythyms but a heaviness like I've had ETHER and it knocks me out for 5 hours so its very disruptive in that way..

i'am take zeldox for 1 year ,i'am very aggresive and anxiety and fatigue i dont now what i am do but the problem i don't love take zeldox ...

I don't know. I have been taking Lithium for my Bi-Polar for three years now, and besides the weight gain, I have been doing well! My Doctor wants me to try Zeldox, what should I do?

It made a huge difference for my Bipolar but the constipation and minor movement issues were all I noticed after 5 months of use.

Compared to all other medications, this is the best medication that has worked for me.

Been constipated while i was on zeldox and i am not using my bowels properly. my medication has been changed. I also could not sleep at night when i was on it

My partner takes Zeldox for Bipolar, he has been taking it for approx 8 months now. He has no side effects at all. Zeldox saved our relationship. He was very highly delusional, manic and just plain nasty at times, not himself at all. I praise Zeldox as it is the only thing that has worked for him. :)
