Zometa

I am on Zometa for about 6 months now. After the drip, I start to feel sick about 3 hours after.
Feeling nauseas and dizzy and lightheaded, and just sick. The next day I take something to just sleep, I feel so tired and sore. Every bone in my body aches. Three days afterwards I start to feel better again. But this time I keep on feeling ill. I am also on Effexor XR. Don't know if it has something to do with taking the two together..

I too had chemo for 5 months for breast cancer about a year ago -Adriamyacin/cytoxin - dose densing - every 2 weeks for 4 cyles.  Then Taxol weekly for 12 weeks. Had Neulasta after each A/C cycle.  Never had the bone pain reported to occur with Neulasta & thank God, no significant side effects with chemo. 

Went to oncologist on Monday, 1/31/11, had my first  Zometa infusion at 12:00 noon & by Tuesday around 10:00 a.m.  I could not believe the side effects.  Intense, diffuse pain in joints & muscles all over my body, chest & mid thoracic pain, unbelievable fatigue with literally no energy in just walking.  Nausea but never vomited, chills.  I too, turned up my heat to 65 (normally kept on 60) and went to bed with sweatshirt & sweatpants on due to chills.  Was amazed that no-one told me of possible side effects.  Had such good tolerance to chemo, (worked daily) that I never even thought twice about this, however this was way worse than any chemo treatment.  Cried multiple times being so miserable. I too am single, and wish I would have had someone here with me yesterday.  My oncologist said that the FDA approves this infusion for women taking Femara & would like to do it 2 times a year.  Honestly, I don't want this drug again.  I was miserable & am still sore & fatigued today which is Wed, 1/2/11.  Will discuss this with him on the next visit.  ** Would highly recommend that someone be with you after receiving this infusion.**

i had chemo for 6 months in 2000. I NEVER, EVER had the horrible reaction I had to one Zometa infusion! I literally thought I was going to die twelve hours after teh infusion. I slept in a down coat and 5 or 6 blankets; My head felt like it would explode. My heart rate was so slow (It went down to 50bpm during the infusion) I felt it would stop. I was delirious and every cell hurt. I was too delirious to call 911. I live alone: moral of the story? NEVER, EVER, EVER let someone with a Zometa infusion go home, or stay home, alone. They must have someone with them for the next 24 hours. These were no flu symptoms, I felt I'd be poisoned. Another case for doctors needing to know the REAL DEAL from patients regarding these drugs. And, btw? No one told me it was a CHEMO DRUG!! DUH!! Was that not important?
