Afrin Side Effects Report #SELF-2388
Female patient reported the following Afrin side effect(s):On 3-22-08 I suddenly experienced severe heart pounding. I could feel it in my back. I went to the ER at 8am teh next morning. The Md said it wouldbe gonbe and not to worry about it. By 5pm I had had it for 15 hours and called my Md. She prescribed norvasc and valium. It did not go. In 2 hrs she told me to return to Er and ask for a beta blocker. I called the Er and asked them what tim e period di the Md who saw me expect this to pass in- they said 12 hrs. Clealry that Md did not read my chart. I had already had it 12 hrs when I arrived atthe ER. They did EKG and a Ct Scan and all was well withheart. Then they compared others meds I was albuterol, sudaphed, and albuterol and afrin and thought that eavil had interacted with the afrin. They took me off everything. I needed one more beta blocker the next morning and have stopped all those meds. I still do not know what happened.
