Merina Side Effects Report #SELF-2390

Female patient reported the following Merina side effect(s):I had Merina IUD inserted about 1 month after my 2nd daughter\'s delivery in 2005 in Maryland, USA. I experienced enormous weight gain (15-20 kg, i used to be a size 0 all my life I weighed 100 pounds=46kg on the 1st month of my pregnancy), hair loss, faint sex drive and hot flushes. When i was v disturbed by these symptoms I went online and checked and discovered I am not alone. I had the IUD removed in Jan 2007. I eventually had my 48X38X26mm ovary removed in May 2007. My ovary had developed 2 cysts: 1) one lined by lutinized granulosa-theca cells 2) other lined by granulosa cells The wall of both cysts was thin, lumen showed evidence of intra-luminal haemorrhage. The ovarian tissue around was the seat of advanced pressure atrophy. In short, it was a case of haemorrhagic corpus luteum and follicular cyst.No malignancy. I know for sure that all what i\'ve been through was due to this IUD and the changes in the hormone levels in my body. I still think about how my life would have been had I never inserted this horrible IUD.
