Nitrofurantoin Side Effects Report #SELF-477
Female patient reported the following Nitrofurantoin side effect(s):acute angina w/pain radiating to jaw, nausea, sweating, pain with inspiration
Prescribe 100mg BID. Took 1st pill am, 2nd pill pm. Severe squeezing chest pain woke me up in the middle of the night. Pain was too intense to move, had nausea, and pain upon inspiration. When it finally subsided (5-10minutes?) I didn\'t know what had happened and didn\'t think to relate it to the antibiotic I started taking that morning(never eperienced an advere drug effect before). I decided to wait and see how I felt in the morning. Felt tired and sore, but nothing that I thought worth going to hospital for. Took my am pill, then my pm, and had the same chest pain and nausea wake me up that night. I didn\'t take the last of the prescription and haven\'t experienced that pain again, but within 8 weeks I had gained 17lbs (which I just recently been able to lose - 8 months later) and have experienced fatigue ever since the original incident.
