Benadryl Side Effects Report #SELF-4951
Female patient reported the following Benadryl side effect(s):On one 25mg pill-I get sleepy, relieves and clears my swollen airways. I generally fall asleep it makes me wake up 4 hours later with restless legs. Makes me drowsy the entire next day, and increases anxiety levels. Using two pills (total of 50mg)-overdose reactions. Only let this happen to me one time was enough. I woke up feeling EXTREMELY weak, my body was possibly on the verge of death. My heart was weak. I could taste the medication in my nose/mouth. I tried to throw up what I could of it.
When using one pill (25mg) its safe, but two pills (50mg) for me is dangerous. As mentioned above.. I\'m pretty sure I could have died if I hadn\'t of thrown up. My body was beyond weak, I could taste the drug in my nose and mouth. I felt like my heart wanted to stop and everything was trying to give up on me. I bought the children\'s dosage instead which is about 12.5mg. This way I can only take HALF of ONE pill. And if that doesn\'t work to relieve allergic reactions, I will take another half of one pill which makes 24.5mg at MOST.
Event date: Tuesday December 1st 12:00:00 AM
Dosage: about 50mg is fatal for me, 25mg is semi safe, 12.5mg is safe
Frequency: maybe once to 10 times in a year
Age: 27
Weight: 105
Other medications: no other medications, I did not have alcohol at the time
Diagnosis: There are a few things I\'m allergic to breathing, that cause my airways to swell when I come in contact with those. My airways swell just enough to where I can hardly breathe, my heart beats hard to work producing agina. So I end up taking an antihistamine which relieves the allergic reaction.
Pre-existing conditions: alcohol once a week to once in 3 months
