Nitrofurantoin Side Effects Report #SELF-4962

Female patient reported the following Nitrofurantoin side effect(s):malignant hypertension, hypertension encephalopathy, radiating nerve pain down both arms to hands, left side worse, sharp nerve pain to throat, upper chest discomfort, difficulty breathing, headache, heart rate 110-125

Diagnosed with UTI, and given nitrofurantoin BID, no side effects until second capsule. Blood pressure had been controlled with Clonidine .3 mg TID, but felt weird, blood pressure went up to 259/125, heart rate 110-125, radiating nerve pain down both arms, pain to mid chest and sharp nerve pain in throat, collapsed when trying to walk. EMS called
