Solodyn Side Effects Report #SELF-5467
Female patient reported the following Solodyn side effect(s):On April 6, I took one Solodyn tablet. (I have suffered from Acne Rosacea for 23 years). Anyway, an hour or so later, my face swelled up like a balloon. It got hard and brick-red. I went to the dermatologist who had prescribed it and he gave me a tapering dose of Oral prednisone 20 mg a day X5 days, 10 mg a day X5 days, 10 mg/10 days and Erytabs 333 mg X2. I am still awaiting my skin to clear up. I haven\'t looked this bad in over 10 years!
I may have been under the impression that some medications make your skin WORSE before it gets BETTER. I was told this is NOT the case with Solodyn by my dermatologist.

Other medications: Really none. I had DCd the use of prednisone maybe four days before this. Now I have to take it again.
Diagnosis: Photoallergic Rash to face from Doxycycline. I was also on Prednisone to help clear this up. So now, I am allergic to ALL Tetracycline antibiotics (Achromycin V, Solodyn, Doxycycline, Minocycline, you name it). These are the ONLY antibiotics that have worked in the past.
Pre-existing conditions: I have had chronic Acne Rosacea for 23 years. I needed to get monthly Laser treatments by an aesthetician for this. The last time she took a look at my face she said I needed to clear up the dermatitis I had around my nose and upper lip. So, I went home and took a Solodyn. That started the downhill slide!
