"Large 10 cm cellulitis surrounding injection site + tender, erythematous, warm. Treated with 1000 mg IM Ceftrioxone.". . . Patient recovered.

VARICELLA (VARIVAX) problem was reported from TN on Apr 24, 2007. Male patient , child 1.3 years of age, was vaccinated with VARICELLA (VARIVAX) on Apr 17, 2007. "Pt received Varivax. Pt began wheezing <5 minutes retraction (severe), urticaria followed <15 min. Pt received racimicepl and 6 mg IM Decadron x 1. Pt improved. Placed in hosp for observation. Placed on cont pulmox, Benadryl, Zantac. 05/01/2007 MR received for o/n hospital stay 4/12-13/07 for bronchospasm and urticaria 10 minutes after Varivax imm. despite pre-med with Benadryl. Began wheezing with retractions. Txd in office with Decadron IM and epi via inhalation. O2 sats remained 94% on RA. Admitted for observation a D/Cd the following am. DX; Allergic reaction to immunization.". . "MMR and Hep A administered at health dept immediate urticaria, diagnosed in office 30 min. PMH: Former 36 week premie. Cholestasis. Patent foramen ovale. Prior rxn of urticaria with MMR and hep a vax.". Patient was hospitalized Patient recovered.

There was a 4 x 4cm red central area within the larger indurated area. There were no red steaks leading into or away from the site. The area itched but was not painful or weeping.. Lodrane D syrup. asthma; eczema; allergic rhinitis. Patient recovered.

VARICELLA (VARIVAX) problem was reported from CA on Apr 25, 2007. Male patient , child 6 years of age, was vaccinated with VARICELLA (VARIVAX) on Apr 21, 2007. "Pruritic rash, listless, discomfort site rash. Rt periorbital edema. Erythema multiforme rash, cheek, rt arm. Hyperpigmentation almost vasculitic appearing, nodules. 4/27/07 Received medical records from hospital which reveal patient experienced itchy rash of both arms, left cheek & swelling around left eye. Rash then spread to right cheek & right eye & became painful. Seen by PCP who admitted to hospital 4/17-4/18/07. Rash on admit was mostly macular, noted to be angry at Varivax site. Rash had purpuric/vasculitis look. Both eyes swollen & skin pale & tender. Nasal crusty. Tx w/IV antibiotics & d/c to home on continued oral antibiotics FINAL DX: Erythema multiforme rash, most likely allergic reaction, possibly to Varivax; periorbital swelling/cellulitis.". None. "None PMH: frequent nasal congestion, swelling w/insect bites, sinusitis.". Patient was hospitalized Patient recovered.

"Seen on 1-22-07 with an overnight Hx sore throat and ear pain while swallowing. Parent were all sick, was afebrile at visit non-toxic, not ill-affecting, no exudates/lesions on tonsils. Pt was due for Varicella #2. Throat cultures done and Varivax #2 given. Pt returned on 1-25-07 with the Hx skin rash from 1/24/07. 1-25-07 petechial rash seen. plts-21c. Bleeding gum (+) Pt taking medications. Platelets remained low 2/5/07 and then unproved. No urine retention.". . none. Patient recovered.

On 4/14/07 I notice 3 pimples on my right shoulder. By 4/17/07 there was 2 on my shoulder blade on the 4/18/07 it was all over my back and on my right forehead one under my right nose and one on my left eyebrow. I went to emergency room on 4/20/07. By this time the first outbreaks were getting scabs.. . Seasonal allergies (spring and fall). Patient recovered.

When she gave him the shot he said his arm went numb imm after than it was numb for 4 days hardly could move it. So he had to go to the doctor 3 days in a row. It still hurts.. . Asthma. VARICELLA (VARIVAX) problem was reported from AZ on May 09, 2007. Male patient , child 10 years of age, was vaccinated with VARICELLA (VARIVAX) on May 08, 2007. Local reaction about 10cm diameter redness and swelling at injection site. Mildly pruritic and mildly tender.. . none. Patient recovered.

VARICELLA (VARIVAX) problem was reported from TX on May 09, 2007. Female patient , child 7 years of age, was vaccinated with VARICELLA (VARIVAX) on May 08, 2007. "Information has been received from a registered nurse concerning a 7 year old female who is cross sighted with estopia and who fainted previously with no other known allergies or medical history who on 02-APR-2007 in the AM was vaccinated SC in the right arm with 0.5 ML second dose of Varivax (Lot # 647532/0637R). At the time of vaccination, the patient was noted to have allergic rhinitis. There was no concomitant medication. On 02-APR-2007 the patient experienced seizure about 15 minutes after vaccination while she was sitting in the waiting room. The seizure lasted about 4 minutes. The patient hit her head on the wall without apparent injury. She was taken to the emergency room and the patient's blood glucose was42 when she was evaluated by a physician. It was reported that she only ate a small amount of ""fruit loops"" cereal that day. During the seizure, the patient had vomited and urinated. She had fainted on a previous occasion. As of 04-Apr-2007, the patient had recovered. Follow up information received from a physician indicated that on 02-APR-2007 in the AM the patient developed a generalized seizure in the waiting room after receiving the second dose of Varivax. The patient has head on the wall, vomiting once, and voided. The blood pressure was 60/48. The patient was awake by the time EMS transported her to the hospital. A CT of the head was normal. The patient recovered on 02-APR-2007. The reporter considered the events to be other important medical events. No additional information is expected.". None. Syncope. Patient recovered.
